Im honestly amazed how I can sit here looking at the switch store and not see hundreds of classic SNES/64/GameCube games. Hell you there a whole mobile library out there too. The amount of games st their disposal is insane.

Honestly what is their problem? The simplest ports in the world. Charge a fair price and literally overdose on money.

Any other company would give all of their children to have the library Nintendo has. And for Nintendo to just sit on it and do fuck all is a one of the biggest WTF decisions in all of gaming.

Most of the games come down to licensing I'd imagine. When the Wii's VC was new I had idealism that my favorite SNES games would be available but only a small fraction of them were.

There are still DS games that came out in 2004 that cost 30 bucks and if I recall way back on the wii the few N64/Gamecube era games that were on their shop cost around 30 or more bucks as well. Nintendo isn't in the business of "Fair" prices they will charge as much as they think they can get away with for shitty rom versions of their games where they can, that's why they took down alot of those old Romhack sites.

Dude just first party titles alone would give gamers hundreds of great options.

Start there then expand out.

I mean this is true. Their business sense is atrocious and completely irrelevant in 2018.

Could you imagine competent people behind the wheel of Nintendo? Giving away garbage bags of great games for next to nothing. Actually having a proper store and s good online service. Putting the games people want in the hands of consumers and easy and as painlessly as possible.

Oh the dreams we have.

I imagine it's because its difficult to just straight port games to the Switch. It's not like you just go file save as.

they're purposely sitting on them so they can remaster the games on a newer console and charge you $60 again for games you've already owned

That's Sega. Their management of their IPs has been horrid, their most iconic IP is filled with incompetence and stubborn bullheadedness, they're the only gaming company to have failed at 3 console and handheld launches.

cause they, like the TC, think you can just pump out whatever port, and that if they were CEO, Nintendo would be emperor of the world.

Basically, their business sense is "I want it therefore it should be"

Because they engage in plenty of anti-consumer nonsense, AND display gross incompetence every step of the way

Theyve ported the same games 50 million times already. How many times do they need to do it?

atari had some awful blunders too but I mean I guess that goes without saying since no one would call them an AAA game company any more

I mean there's no way the GameGear did worse than the Lynx right? Or the Saturn did worse than the Jaguar?

The answer is quite simple, they lost the source code to these games years ago. So you have to wait for them to kill more Rom sites so they can pillage the games you want from there

lol

They're incompetent in some ways but they aren't even close to Rockstar or Capcom in terms of being outright awful

Does Rockstar or Capcom sue the fuck out of people who run rom sites or who mod their overpriced emulation boxes?

With a company like EA. You understand the demon that they are. Theyre driven by money, its their bottom line. They might piss off people daily but they still want to have a product in peoples hands that people want to buy. Theyre good at making money and its no accident.

Nintendo is worse because you have ZERO idea what the fuck their thinking. You do know theyre not really listening. You know theyre constantly doing their own thing. But you have no idea what that is. When are they going to breath life back into one of their less popular franchises? You have idea. Will they actually give a shit and do the series justice? God knows. Probably not.

To me Nintendo is like this anomaly that is forever in their own world and you will just never have the satisfaction of knowing theyre on the right course.

And theyve shown time and time again they just dont get it. They dont understand what gamers actually want. They dont pay attention to the market. They still dont get how online works. They dont see the value in letting people advertise their games for free on YouTube.

And whats worse is that we bitch about companies like EA daily. But Nintendo has soooooo much brand loyalty that people ignore all these flaws. They almost never talk about their incompetency. The Internet is fucking weird when it comes to them. The outrage culture is the worst its ever been and gamers will find the most minuscule things to go on tirades about. But when it comes to Nintendo its all love.

The people here dismissing this is reaffirming my point. Nintendo is this perfect company who can do no wrong. Meanwhile they sit there, willfully ignorant to the place they play in gaming culture and not understanding how much they squander such an important role.

yeah, in a perfect world every new console would be 100% backwards compatible, or at least have access to every game ever made

but that's what PCs are for, I guess

They did that with the Wii and WiiU virtual consoles.

Pretty sure they stopped because they wanted people to buy NES and SNES classic for that stuff.

Also they don't own most of their classic game library, they'd have to pay out royalties which I'm sure they'd rather not do.
