Up until maybe 2014. They say the best camera is the one you have with you.

That's going to be my phone. For good measure, I added a 256 GB card to maximize space for photos/videos.

i have a DSLR from 2005 I still use (Canon XT). With lens its way better than my phone camera.

Thanks, most of my pictures turn out no where near that good. This was another one a few seconds before that is no where near as clear

I have two DSLRs, a Nikon D3200 and D40. TC, if you're looking into compact cameras, I would recommend one that allows you to adjust the settings. I have an old compact that I'm fairly sure only allows auto settings. Although your budget is a bit low, you might want to look into this one:
