Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari : a show with a really unique premise about an otaku who gets transported to a parallel fantasy world. obviously I'll have to check this out. I've never seen anything like this. I give it a pre-emptive 3 crabs out of 10 crabs.

Boogiepop wa Waranai : I can't fairly pre-rate this because I already read the novels many years ago and I watched the first three episodes yesterday anyways. It was a pretty good adaptation but the novels are honestly great. I might recommend just going to read those instead but, honestly, this is pretty good in its own way and it's a different enough experience. People could, and should, definitely enjoy this too. But also read the novels.

5-Touban no Hanayome : A comedy anime about sisters, say no more. Sign me up. 5 Crabs out of 4 Crabs.

Revisions: I tried reading the synopsis for this but god damn I'm 31 and I just can't. I can't do it. I can't even read enough of this to make a joke about it. 2 Crabs out of 20 Crabs.

Endro! : Sounds like generic fantasy but with cute girls. Generic fantasy is, like, take it or leave it. Cute girls are justice. 7 Crabs out of 11 Crabs.

Girly Air Force: This has the sci-fi problem of just throwing too many jargon words at me immediately and leaves me with no idea of what the story is actually about. It seems like the marketing team wants to sell you purely on the visual promotion and the general idea that it's about cute girls flying around battling or something. 3 Crabs out of 11 Crabs.

Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai : The initial premise of this sounds cool, being in a low industrial world where people barter to survive and there isn't much of a developed civilization. Focus on planes and aerial battles is much less interesting to me. 5 Crabs out of 12 Crabs.

W'z : This looks like it's about some guy wanting to form a boy band and no one can convince me otherwise. I find it interesting how many of the shows on the list have had either an all male or all female cast presented to us front and center on the promotional materials. Really shows how polarized the crab industry is these days. 5 Crabs out of 13 Crabs.

Circlet Princess : Continues the trend of the above mentioned anime, this one is about an all girls team of virtual e sports players. Uh, is it bad if this is one of the better ideas I've seen on the list so far? 8 Crabs out of 11 Crabs.

Meiji Tokyo Renka : My eyes sort of hurt trying to read the synopsis for this. From what I understand it's an adaptation of a romance game for fujoshi or something. 3 Crabs out of 27 Crabs.

Virtual-san wa Miteiru : I don't see Kaguya Luna. 0 Crabs out of a Hundred Crabs.

Mannaka no Rikkun : I guess this looks more like a cartoon for actual children but I could be wrong about that. Probably a decent show to watch without subs if you're practicing your elementary school level japanese. 4 Crabs out of 11 Crabs.

Yakusoku no Neverland : A (maybe dark?) adventure show about kids, which is a genre that I'm ambivalent about in ways I can't even really explain. I do talk a lot about how I'm not that interested in child characters because I don't identify with them very much... but then some of my favorite manga focuses on high schoolers and other kids. Anyway this is something I probably would have skipped but I got a SPICY RECOMMEND from zea so I'll have to add this one to the list and see how I feel about it. 5 Crabs out of 11 Crabs, but it goes on the list anyway because of literally nepotism.

the promised neverland episode 1 - was a pretty good premier. but I'm intrigued to see where it goes. I would give it about two monkeys out of one crab

boogiepop episode 1 - first of all I have to admit I made the grave error of not watching episode 2 immediately after this one so my opinion is valid. the story seems interesting but not SUPER interesting so far. overall I would give this a 'I will probably have a panic attack wondering if I should just read the novels and ignore the anime' out of 5 crabs

shield hero episode 1 - I like the concept of a shield being a joke since I used to make jokes like that in maria's RPGs. this was okay I guess, probably one of those things that's only holding my attention because I feel interested in anime right now. I didn't really like how the MC seemed to go from a loser to a BADASS basically immediately. the episode felt pretty generic isekai to me overall but also not as bad as some of those shows are.

boogiepop 2 - still not super into this yet but the main girl (I think?) seems pretty cool. this show gives me an early 2000s anime vibe which is a nice change of pace.

gonna check out kaguya and dororo too, probably it for me this season.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen : Now that is what I call a title. Now just imagine I typed all of that just so I could tell you that I'm not interested in this genius love comedy battle. 2 Crabs out of 9 Crabs.

Date A Live III : Hey, this is a sequel to a show where I watched part of the first season and sort of enjoyed it. No way I'm catching up, though. PASS. NO CRABS FOR YOU.

Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita : 4koma series have been pretty surprisingly good for me in the past. This one is about a college student falling in love with a fifth grader, though. So... uh... 35 Crabs out of 100 Crabs. One Crab for each year I'd spend in prison for watching this show.

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue : Hey this is that cat anime that literally has the PUN seal of approval. Sadly I have no real empathy and I think shows about cute animals would probably do nothing for me. 2 Crabs out of 13 Crabs.

Egao no Daika : A mecha sci fi space series that kinda fits this same nebulous mold as the ones that get made every season and don't really appeal to me too much for whatever reason. I really like sci fi and I have enjoyed some sci fi anime in the past, but I would say in general that western sci-fi is more what I'm into and eastern sci-fi is nothing like it most of the time. Not sure if I can explain it better than that. 3 Crabs out of 7 Crabs.

I'm about to have a mental breakdown over whether this glorious crab topic is going to die if I don't personally post in it every 2 hours.

Kemurikusa : So basically this looks like somebody won a 'short animation' contest and they decided to turn that concept into a fully anime. That worries me because it's not often a simple visually driven plot would stand up to the same scrutiny as a full TV series. The synopsis says virtually nothing about the depth of the story or characters, so, uh, not looking too nautical to me. 2 Crabs out of 17 Crabs.

Pastel Memories : The description of this anime literally sounds more like the synopsis for a mobile game than a TV series. Considering those games usually have AWFUL writing, and this would even lack the interactive element of being a game... no thanks, my barnacle brothers. 1 Crab out of 19 Crabs.

Kemono Friends 2 : Sequel-itis. No CRABS.

Rinshi! Ekoda-chan : I have no idea what this is but it feels like a known IP that is already popular in japan. The synopsis sounds like it could be something fun or it could be something stupid, but it lacks the details to even make a guess as for which it would be. Exactly 49 Crabs out of 101 Crabs.

Dimension High School : So this is some kind of real life idols playing the role of students who get transported to an anime world just to play the role of anime students... thing. Uh, pass. 1 Crab out of 54 Crabs.

Star (STAR) Twinkle PreCure : As someone who watched and loved the original Futari wa PreCure! and I've also checked out and generally enjoyed other Pretty Cure series over the years I can definitely honestly say I know myself well enough to know I'm not really in the mood to check out a PreCure series right now. 3 Crabs out of 7 Crabs.

Mob Psycho 100 (II) : Haven't watched the first season yet, so I can't comment on this. I wasn't a huge fan of One Punch Man either so I'm not super enthused to see anything else by the same creator.

Kakegurui xx : Another sequel to another show I haven't seen.

Dororo : Some kind of demon fighting samurai series. Honestly I'd have to hear some pretty amazing reviews about this before I'd even consider checking it out. 4 Crabs out of 9 Crabs.

Domestic na Kanojo : Well that synopsis went about exactly where I expected it to go, and, like, at lightning speed. Probably pass on this although it theoretically contains some elements that I enjoy, it doesn't really seem like it has the kind of presentation that I'm actually into. 2 Crabs out of 11 Crabs.

Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka : I actually really love stories that take place "after" the great crisis or the huge world ending event was already resolved, so I was pretty hyped at like the first three lines of this synopsis. Then... ehhh.... so basically the same exact monsters show up again and the same heroes need to save the world in the same exact way again. That, uh, kinda defeats the purpose. 1 Crab out of 12 Crabs.

3D Kanojo Real Girl 2 : lmao 3D lmao real girls lmao it's also a sequel. least crab-like thing I've ever seen.

Grimms Notes the Animation : So it's like a fantasy series but I guess the premise is a little bit weird and actually somewhat creative. People are born with books that tell all the details of their lives in advance. Bad dudes are going around writing bad events into the books. Good dudes have to go stop the bad dudes. Not really my kind of thing but I actually do respect the creativity behind it. 6 Crabs out of 11 Crabs.

BanG Dream! 2nd Season : Another sequel to another show I haven't seen.

Fukigen na Mononokean Tsuzuki : Another sequel to another show I haven't seen. Well these write ups are getting easier and easier, aren't they?

Piano no Mori 2 : Literally.

Bermuda Triangle: Colorful Pastrale : This is not the Bermuda Triangle that I know. I guess it's a moe slice of life series about mermaids. This would be better if it was about a grizzled old sea dog trying to find his way back from the depths of a supernatural ocean based curse, but what do I know. 2 Crabs out of 9 Crabs.

B-PROJECT: Zecchou*Emotion : Another sequel. I guess they're all congested to one side. I should have taken note of that before I started writing.

Circlet Princess 01

This show did a pretty good job of establishing the near future setting very quickly and effectively while still making the world feel like it relates enough to the modern day that you can get into what is going on and not feel alienated. Every other aspect of the show is basically just adequate in all regards, or subjective.

I don't know what counts as standard for good action scenes in anime anymore, but I would say the action in this was pretty good. Not great but not terrible either. I wouldn't watch it just for the action.

The characters actually seem pretty okay. None of them have a lot of depth yet but they all have their own quirks and you can see how they could potentially develop or how their relationships will play off of each other in the future.

The humor is decent. I smirked at a few scenes. Nothing made me laugh out loud.

If you wanted me to classify this as science fiction or fantasy I would definitely say fantasy, and I think that's the weakest thing about it. Being about e-sports you think there would be explanation of the rules or how the game works. Sadly, that is not the case. Everything just kinda happens as the characters need it to happen. Maybe they'll explain more technical aspects of how everything works later but, based on this first ep, it really does not seem to be that type of show. All you need to know is that they are battling in a virtual world.

The Circlet Bout itself was also fairly disappointing, at least to me. The characters don't have any avatars, and there's no actual video gaming aspect to it. They basically just fight in a virtual arena while running around with their actual bodies and fighting with virtual weapons. If there is a team play aspect it was not featured in this episode. There's no actual game mechanics, it's basically just a sport -- it's like they are playing kendo but in VR. I wouldn't say this is objectively a negative quality but for me I definitely didn't like it.

Overall I would say I expected this to just be a trashy fanservice show and it's not really that, but it's not what I would consider a great sports anime either. If you're the type who likes Ace of Diamond or Haikyuu, I would say this doesn't seem to fill the same niche. If you like stuff such as Kuroko no Basket... maybe check it out. If the concept of an e sports anime is appealing to you... okay, just keep in mind this is more like a fighting game in virtual reality e sport and not like a MOBA.

Endro! 01

As a fantasy adventure show I would say this is pretty middle of the road. It doesn't feel like it has any true heart or creativity behind it. As a slice of life cute girls comedy it doesn't really stand out for me much, either. It kinda lacks the sarcastic or ironic punch that is usually needed for me to enjoy those types of shows -- this, on the other hand, is very straightforward. What you see is really what you get.

There weren't really any characters that were cute or funny enough to carry the show, and this is a show that needs to be carried, because the core elements just are not there. The mage girl was funny but a bit of a gimmick character. I could see her wearing thin pretty fast. There were a few good jokes and a few cute moments. I'd probably recommend this to someone if the concept of a demon loli teacher sounds good to you, since that is likely to be a big appeal of this show. But, alas, it's not for me.

I might give it another episode but I could see myself not feeling enthused enough to bother.

yeah it was a bit too straightforward. I think we've had too many shows that did the whole cute girls, moe comedy angle in a fresh and ironic way. it's hard to go back and enjoy something that really has nothing to it other than being a generic fantasy story but with cute girls as the main characters.

the opening scene is also something that would be funny on paper -- they go and defeat the demon lord at the very beginning, then the end credits roll, then the hero wakes up and it was all just a dream -- pretty generic and overdone, but you could see how it could be amusing. instead the director devoted way too much time to it. around 5 minutes to get through a sequence of events where you already basically knew where the joke was going, and there wasn't even a punchline. that kinda set the tone of the whole show for me.

Kaguya-sama ep1 - I thought this would be dumb even before it aired, but its also a comedy so there was at least some hope it might be funny. Unfortunately it wasnt. The narration is used too much and I didnt really like any of the 3 skits in the episode. The last one was the best of the 3, but it still wasnt really funny or anything. The OP was decent and thats about the best thing I can say about it. 4 mutilated crabs out of 30

My Roommate is a Cat Ep 2 beated

definitely not as good as ep 1

but still good enough to be better than any non-Kaguya thing I've tried so far this season.

My Roommate is a Cat ep1 - was decent I guess. The cat is the best part and I wish it was the main while the human was the minor character since hes just not very interesting.

hmmm well. the action was pretty good I guess but I'm not the type of person who can love a show just because it has good action. aside from that I didn't love any of the story elements or characters. and, sadly, for a gag series, it very, very rarely made me laugh.

I heard Mob Psycho was more of a comedy so I feel like unless the writer's sense of humor changed I likely won't get it.
