Drinks are getting slightly harder- I have to decipher some of the requests, and had to remember that the reporter guy likes beer. The latter sets a concerning precedent, considering my less than ideal memory and penchant for spreading out my gameplay. Still got new characters rolling in, still like most of them, still having trouble with names. Hey @IhatethisCPU you're gonna put Dana in the mod right? She mentioned a wrestling career and I don't make the rules. Anyway, the atmosphere is gonna make this game hard to beat- it "clicks" for me like Trails did, and we saw how that turned out. On the other hand it gets a slight ding for profanity and somewhat adult discussions- probably still a game I'd play in public but I'd be looking over my shoulder, y'know? WoA: Not a ton going on, which is good because I wasn't listening well BTE 51-53: FLIP GORDON you say. more importantly MARTY IS IN BULLET CLUB. I have seen him wrestle one match and I'm a big fan entirely based on this series of videos. ....That's not far off from how I am with Kenny and the Bucks, I guess! Also I appreciate that they actually acknowledged that the secret conversation happened in an episode- how many times has wrestling handwaved that? Marty gets his own segment now! Well of Ascension: The fight went....north, actually! It ran out of south to go. ....Kinda unceremonious end for some of these folks! Doxon and Tindwell....didn't really do much this book, which kinda makes me wonder why we introduced Tindwell at all. She was cool and had a nice thing going but I don't think the story is likely to change much if she doesn't exist? Unless this is some sort of character development trigger for Sazed, but that seems a bit too cliche for Sanderson. CHIKARA Tag Prix 2005-3: Toryumon X/Osaka Pro after an untranslated Milanito promo I didn't quite manage to follow. Is his dog flying now? Fun match, although it's weird to see Ebessan and Milanito essentially working a serious match. Some cool but choreographed chain sequences- your mileage may vary but I enjoy those even if they aren't great for my suspension of disbelief. BKK over. I have loved cute-girls-doing-cute-things slice of life since before it was 90% of anime, but I appreciate it a lot more when the characters have some depth. A lot of the times it feels like we picked the next four moe tropes off the conveyor belt and that's the cast, but here they have actual personalities and strengths and flaws and stuff. Also, social anxiety! Was good show. We also caught up on Anime Crimes Division, which has continued to be amazingly meta. ProZD is a gift. Back to work as usual next week! That'll speed up the audiobooks and slow down most other things. Cucumber Quest: well heck we're switching formats :\ Well of Ascension: well I HAD just been wondering when Marsh was gonna show back up STEAM BATTLE- #4 Touhou 16: Got to Okina! ...And got dunked on because I thought I could dodge some stuff I couldn't. Still, that's the best I've done so far, so that's cool. THE VERDICT: The semifinals are as close to set in stone as these generally get past the first round. Touhou's fun, but it's gonna take something particularly special to dethrone Va-11-Halla. STEAM BATTLE- #7 Aviary Attorney: ...Beated, with Route C, which I suspect was the worst. Good stuff. I would like to get the other endings at some point, but I don't feel particularly compelled to right now. STEAM BATTLE- #6 Disgaea 2: It's almost a formality, since I'm kinda done with AA, but everybody gets the same treatment, man, and Disgaea could use the extra "turn" to nudge me towards getting out of the tutorial. I can make (terrible) characters now wooooo THE VERDICT: I don't often call a round correctly, but we are indeed getting Va-11/Disgaea. ....And that's a tough one. STEAM BATTLE- #8 Va-11-Halla: New ship get: Sei/Dorothy, both of whom are squaring off with Boss for the title of Best Girl. Stella and Jill herself seem quality as well. Botched one drink and missed one of Stella's requests, but we're going ok I think! Except we're gonna shut down ;_; I just lost a job to the place closing down so that hits a bit close to home >_> STEAM BATTLE- #6 Disgaea 2: Not much happenin' story-wise, but I got a Thief made right at the end! THE VERDICT: ......hm. Disgaea's gameplay is a lot more interesting, but Va-11-Halla's got it licked on just about everything else. Disgaea gets a slight ding for being a really long JRPG with a neat battle system, a good-ol-classic-RPG vibe, and a ship that keeps me interested...theoretically playing opposite Trails. Va-11-Halla gets a slight ding for long segments where you can't save, and talking about sex and drinking and stuff when I'm gonna want to play it during downtimes at a high school. And having a really annoying name to type. >_> Ehhhhhhhhh I will go with the convenience and nostalgia factor. I was on the right track about the prophecy, I just stopped like five steps too soon! Interested to see allomancer Ellend. Disgaea 2: Got up to the second Axel fight and decided to throw for his ending....but accidentally killed him. Mid-Boss he ain't! Reloaded and went easier on him (do you even GET experience from fights like that?) and looped. I had to do the Summoning Experiments again but for some reason the Bonus Gauge was way buffed from the first loop, giving me a big spike in EXP and HL just from the three characters I cared about unlocking. They will be fighting the animated corpses of Jigsaw and Sabian, but feel the need to bum rush them anyway and cheat the whole match. Pretty great possum spot for the finish though! (1/2) Post-match features Jigsaw pulling up Sabian's pants for him. Superfriends vs. Osaka Pro after we CHANGE DISCS. This has to go to Superfriends, right? Kingston is killing it on color- he's funny, and finds the elusive balance between ragging on the faces and making jokes, and keeping it about the action and putting the faces over when it counts. Used to be a more common skill than it is today, and that's become a button for me after years of Michael Cole and lazy!JBL. It took a bit to click for me, but there's good tech, good comedy, good flying, and good storytelling with Hero shading more and more heel. () Breather match: Icarus/Akuma/Beef/Bear v. Lucky/Ryder/Franco/Turner: the jobberiest lookin' 8-man team I've ever seen. The Lucky guy is impressing me though. Poor bear is still nursing his Excedrin Headache #2 :( Match exceeded excpectations, but the finish was rather abrupt. Schmucks over. (1/2) Breather match #2: Not-Baron Corbin, Shane Storm, Matt Hardy v0.5 (Cruz v2), and two other dudes (Davis, Satochi) v. Sweeney and four other dudes (Hagodorn, Andrews, Cheech, Cloudy).
