My rooting interest is with San Jose, but I don't know if they can answer MacKinnon in anyway.

Sharks' defense and goaltending is too porous and they just went through a brutal series. I think Colorado's just going to put too much on the board this series for them to handle.

For anyone who hasn't been following, just to summarize what has happened in the first round of the playoffs this year:

The #1 and #2 overall teams in the league won a combined 1 game against the two 8 seeds, with the #1 overall seed (Tampa) getting swept despite having one of the best regular seasons of all time.

All 4 division winners lost to Wild Card teams.

The underdogs won 6/8 of the matchups, give or take 1 depending on who you viewed as the underdog.

Anything else?

So I was reading this for no particular reason as they were going over the series and:

The Vegas Golden Knights, last seasons expansion surprise, were slight favorites over the San Jose Sharks despite not having home ice.

Ok yeah, Vegas was slightly favored which is what I thought.

I think the long layoff might kill Columbus. Colorado is a much safer bet and they're playing a weaker team round 2.

Both the defending champs and the defending runner-up lost in the first round in crazy game 7s.

The Winnipeg Jets, meanwhile, entered the season on the short list of Cup contenders but were slight underdogs against St. Louis even with their home ice.
