Oh if he had been drinking beforehand that would explain it a bit, because otherwise the amount that he was distraught seemed over the top

like when my mom died I handled it better than this dude was handling a friend that it sounds like he wasnt even necessarily super close with

but I also dont have a pathological need to fill dead air like Rorie does so that probably helped

Do we know if this is legit GotY podcasts again or the lame stuff from last year?

Looks like they're doing that thing from last year where most of the podcasts will be recaps.

I'll probably end up re-subbing someday cause I still like the other content, but I think with them doing a repeat of last year's GOTY, this is what's gonna make me stop subscribing. I got into GB with their GOTY stuff years ago, and I look forward to them all year. Seeing what they've turned into has become depressing.

IIRC, the change is that in prior years every day's podcast would be debates with categories. Last year they reduced the number of categories and more of the podcasts were devoted to recapping the games that came out that year.

The I'll miss WAY more than that, though, is the lack of bigger videos. I loved Hitsmas, and them all playing rock band or jackbox together. And those couple years they did the gaming tournament!

shorter videos this year a result of them only spending a week on GotY instead of 2 weeks

which I'm betting has a lot to do with a lot of the staff being married now or with families and not being able to stay away for as long as they used to.

Unfortunately the newer format still isn't very interesting for me because I enjoy the conflicts that they are trying to avoid by doing this

I also forgot about the new format but I'm pretty sure I went from "oh wow I hate that there is no longer 24 hours of debates to listen to" to "wow what a great idea to cut the debate time in half while still doing the major categories and talking about all the games" by the end of it, so I'm going to assume I'll feel that way again.

I say this every year, but the best thing about these top 10 lists is that I find games that came out that were completely off my radar or that I thought I wouldn't be interested in. The #1 game on Rich Gallup's list is currently free on the Epic Game Store and I went from "I will not purchase this free game" to "I am going to play this free game today".
