A Mossberg 590A1 Retrograde.
@545x39
I remember you liking the idea of the Retro, so here's some pics of mine:

oKTM53A
6KDrUNq

The Retrograde line of shotguns is a welcome breath of fresh air from the very saturated tactical market where rails, angled grips, and red dot optics are the expected norm. This is the A1 version, with the metal trigger assembly, bayonet lug, safety, and thicker, more girthy 20" barrel. Been looking forward to these since they were announced, and I'm happy to see the walnut furniture was as sexy as I had imagined it.

Get it dirty, of course.

Debating a side saddle for some extra capacity, and to piss off a certain demographic, but most saddles I see don't look all that sturdy. A bayonet is most assuredly on the way as well.

Kinda want to get that SGA stock from Magpul, but I'm loving the walnut too much to change it so soon. Plus I can't seem to find any of those stocks and handguards in OD green, so that's also pushing that idea down.

I recommend the SGA magpul stock too, have it on my Remington 870, the recoil reduction allows shooting all day with no soreness.

A side saddle/shell holder is another good option, and maybe a "laser/light" should you need it at night.

Yeah, if you haven't tried it, the SGA stock is great. Very comfortable.

How much did that run you?

$650, before taxes. I've seen them for less online but the owner is a good guy, so I opted to shop local. Only about 10, 20-ish above the lowest I've seen them, so meh.

Fair nuff. I love the way it looks but I've handled some shotguns with the SGA stock, and yeah, big difference.

No I wanted it. I plan on doing competitions again someday, and an A1 platform with the heavy barrel and metal trigger assembly is appealing for the longevity.

The bayonet lug was to piss of the pro-AWB crowd.

I got a gun for home defense recently. They tried to sell me a shotgun but I'm not sure where I would store one. They're too big to leave laying around and I'm not about to go lugging one around in the open. I have heard that they're perfect for home defense but eventually I just bought a pistol.

If you ever do buy a shotgun, don't let them trick you into buying one without a stock just because it's shorter.

They take a lot of practice to shoot decently and it isn't really worth it outside of the look.

Yeah a shotgun without a stock is NOT for novices, if a gun shop tried to trick you into buying one over a shotgun with a stock they are shitty people and you need to not do business with them.

My friend tried it once and he's a big dude who loves shooting the Mosin Nagant short sleeves, even he put his stock back on after trying it with pistol grip no stock.

PGO is far from ideal in a defensive scenario unless you are very familiar with it. Even then, it is by far easier to maintain sight acquisition (before and after shooting) with a stock equipped shotgun than a PGO.

huh, never had any problem.

You'd fire it once and either drop it or flinch on your next shot because of how much it hurt your wrist I'd bet.

I've been thinking about getting a KSG since all I can find are tactical shotguns around here, and if I gotta go with that tactical look I might as well get that 12 round capacity I figure.

So your home does not have anyone or pets that you would like to not shoot ?, your cool with fucking your home up because of your "it's like a video game" mindset ?

Seems like you should not have a gun if your not going to take it seriously or listen to people who have more experience with firearms.

Go to a class, get trained, be educated and not some gun ho rookie who makes a terrible mistake.

Just putting rounds down range is no substitute for a training course that forces you to move around and shoot.

Caring about safety, and being knowledgeable is not trying to be a cool guy, it's being responsible. Having a stock on your shotgun significantly increases your accuracy and speed even inside a home, sure it's easier to maneuver with a PGO shotgun but accuracy and speed matter more. Instead of a PGO shotgun use a pistol and have more control over the weapon and the speed of follow up shots.

Rifles, pistols, shotguns, etc all have a place and purpose, a PGO shotgun is not even close to being ideal for home defense for most people.

If you're talking about buckshot, that is entirely false. Even #4 buck will penetrate interior walls. If we're talking about birdshot, I...hope you aren't using birdshot.

And I don't think the maneuverability is worth the loss of potential speed and accuracy with follow up shots in a stressful situation, especially in say a night break-in where you may be awakened at 2AM.
