And it was a cheap contract, too. Smart phones are somewhat expensive. But thats if youre always buying the newer models. The older ones are cheaper. And even cheaper if you buy a used one. Same as the bill. Some people had cheap bills. Mine was $60 for unlimited everything for a good amount of time. Some places had cheaper bills. Some are also pay as you go. It all depends on what you need. So, a phone could definitely cost less... unless you think you need all the bells and whistles.
