There's those ties you can buy that are basically pre-tied. You actually zip them up. I have no idea how to tie a tie so if I had to wear one and needed something in a hurry/emergency and no one else could help me, that's a possibility I would go with

The wedding was cool. Over already. It was very religious so lots of god songs and whatnot.

There was another guy there in just a polo but most people had suits and ties. I was probably one of the least dressed up people there. But oh well. I did explain that I couldn't tie a tie.

They make clip ons. Im at wedding currently actually. Step father doesnt know how either and somewhere he got a tie that was already tied he just had to put it over his head and tighten it up.

I dont think clip-one are that bad. Some people have trouble with it. And on top of that, you have to get the size right. Im short. And have to tie my ties a little different to fit correctly. At least clips on should always be the same size. Haha.

Yeah but while I find clip ons fine for those who dont know how to tie a tie due to it being a rarity for them I hate the idea of correctional officers/cops etc wearing ties even clip ons. Uniform should be practical over how professional it looks. Hell a clip on can be ripped off and used to strangle you with I'm sure. Evn thoug people find the look more intimidating I feel they should wear a more tactical looking uniform

It not only tying it, though. The length can be an issue, too. Thats a big thing for me. I have to tie it like 10 times. Even then, its still just barely workable. Haha. And some people still just have trouble with it. Ive seen people watching the video and still messing up. Personally, I wouldnt give them shit. It might even look better than if they tied it, depending on how well they put it on. But everyones different. Plus, lots of people just dont even have them, depending on their lifestyle... So, a clip on is probably cheaper and it ready when they need it...

It sounds like he isn't even getting to that point though. If you get that far and the length is wrong you've pretty much got it down, you just try again with a different starting length. I've tied a tie dozens of times and still constantly get the length wrong on my first try, it's not a big deal

I say cops too. The uniform should suit the job. And even hair lenght policy. My mom worked with a dude that fought and won his case to have long hair and in most jobs id agree long hair shouldnt be a issue but in a prison its something the inmates can grab ahold of. I feel the women should probably keep short hair too. But if they wont push that then yeah I guess they should allow guys too cause ya know equality

Try tying a Four-In-Hand. I figured that one out on my own but for the life of me I can't do a Half-Windsor even with diagrams.

You cross the thick end in front of the thin, wrap it around the back, then again around the front of the thin end, making a loop. Then you pull the thick end up through the neck, then down through the loop you just made. Tighten the knot and adjust it and you're done.

Well I don't need to tie one anymore. Probably won't need to for another few years or so. I hate dressing up. I tried some of these four in hand things just for the hell of it. Still turns out terrible. I give up. I'm glad I don't have to wear a tie for my job

Uh that looks pretty normal. I'm assuming you are aware you can tighten the loop from there and hide it in your collar

It's mostly the symmetry and size of the knot. The bigger and more symmetrical the knot, the harder and more complicated it is to tie. The Four-In-Hand is probably the slimmest and most asymmetrical, but it's also the easiest to learn.

That actually looks right, you just need to slide the knot upwards until it's tight around your neck.
