I mean, it's not entirely their fault. Because D&D don't have 2 brain cells between them to rub together, they utterly failed on every level make this twist logical. They clearly did it for the shock value. Now, it's possible that this is Martin's plan for the books. But because Martin is actually an intelligent person, he'll be a lot smarter and more careful about how it plays out in the books.

Read the books. The first 4 or 5 seasons of the show are phenomenal. After that it turned into a train wreck. But the books are fantastic.

Still better than a series that was finished poorly.

Though honestly, if you've avoided getting into it at all so far, you're better off just not bothering. If a miracle ever happens and Martin finishes the books I'd recommend them then, assuming he doesn't go insane in the last couple books and ruin the whole thing (see also the TV series, see also how Stephen King basically handled the Dark Tower series, etc).

Yes, and no. There definitely allusions to it and she's shown a ruthless and reckless side in the past.

But her actions were always driven either by conflict with her enemies or elements of corruption, such as slavery.

Her going mad is not as big of a twist/deal that people are making it out to be. There were several signs she was going to go crazy within this season and even more in the previous ones. Her decision to raze Kings landing was brutal and sad but not particularly surprising.

This is the least of this season's issues, which there are a lot of.

Also worth noting it's still a medieval-like time period that we're looking at with a modern lens and morality.

True. But they got those tattoos knowing what Darth Vader was. The people with Daenerys tattoos got them believing she was something different than she turned out to be. So I can see them being disappointed with the tattoo now. Same for people who named their kids after her.

It's like getting Chinese characters tattooed that you think says love and hope only to find out it really says turd sandwich. Most people would be unhappy. But the guy who got them knowing they say turd sandwich is going to be happy with them.

I wouldn't say season 6 and 7 were trainwrecks, you can totally tell that's where they went past the books but they still have their good moments. It's nowhere near as bad as what The Walking Dead became, for example.

Sure I totally agree. They should have made an entire season for the night king and another for cersei. If that wasn't feasible for some reason then at least just make this season 10 episodes. No idea why it's only 6. There's so much that could have been expanded on and explored.

I feel that they should have fought Cersei first, have Dany sit on the throne and start going mad with power and anger, and THEN have the fight with the White Walkers as shes going insane. No one trusts her or likes her as the new queen but theyre too scared to do anything about it. Then she dies during the battle along with everyone else, and the land turns to snow.

6 episodes was more than enough to do this. Just change up the order of events

Just adds to my argument that writers are just incredibly lazy. They say that the filming takes overly long to shoot and thats why they waited but that cant be totally true. Theyve had a consistent system of 10 episodes for 6 straight years, I dont see why they feel they had to change that
