My skin is in great condition. But the early receding hairline and the excessive grey in the beard counters that. :/

And no, I don't do anything special to take care of my skin or eat particularly healthy.

Pfft.

Although... In some ways I do look younger than my age. I'm forever being mistaken for someone in my 20s, though I'm actually 33 now. It's one of the very few positive aspects of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome: the collagen in my skin is as defective as that in the rest of my body, so my skin doesn't age quite in the same way or at the same speed as most people's.

I think the most "off" guess of my age that I've had since becoming an adult was the guy soliciting donations for UNICEF who wanted to check that I was 18 - 3 weeks before my 31st birthday. I choked a little at that!

As for protecting my skin... Eh, not as much as I could. My dietary habits are a bit of a mess because I don't have full control of them - I have to have caregivers come in & help me cook meals, & they don't get trained in doing anything other than microwaving ready meals, which can get pretty frustrating as food goes.

72, look much younger, don't do anything special. Eat what I want, mostly meat&potatoes, Chinese, Italian. Usually wear a billed or brimmed hat outdoors. Seldom remember to use sunblock.

People have literally thought I was 12-13, and being mistaken for 16 isn't uncommon at all.

I'm 34. x3

I do not eat particularly healthy, no. I do like fruits and veggies, but I also eat a lot of junk. I eat what I can, and considering I don't have the energy to cook half the time without eating something quick and I have to cook if I want to eat like half the time... Kind of a problem.

And if I'm not cooking, it's not someone else is it's that something gets picked up.

I'll eat what I can. Digestive wise, texture wise, and ability/availability wise. If I stressed too much about that I wouldn't eat very often at all.

Being mistaken for much younger is very common with hypermobility spectrum disorders =P it's the defective collagen thing.

It's one of those things, like many issues I've had, that I didn't really think much about for a long time because that was just kinda the way it was tbh.

Like how my sibling randomly accidentally sprained or slipped my wrist at times. Sometimes it happened and others not, sometimes it hurt and other times not, and none of the times did it take much. We never thought anything about it, it was just the way I was.

Other than my height, no one questioned me trick or treating the year before last. If that tells you anything. x3 People seem to treat me like I'm adorable or something, especially because I'm shy IRL.Went to Denny's with my spouse within the last week and the waitress kept talking all softly and like she was talking to a child. I'm... surprisingly used to it tbh. She wasn't particularly patronizing or anything at least.

Ah, how familiar! Yes, that tends to be the way it goes with HSD/hEDS. Especially if the hypermobility runs in one's family and you're *used* to seeing people's joints bend the way yours do, so it doesn't occur to you til the chronic pain begins that it might not be "normal". Like bending one's knee backwards til the kneecap's flat on top.

35 years old, routinely get mistaken for early 20s. I was out with my mother last year and we came across a woman my mother knew. She asked is your grandson out of high school yet? She was shocked to learn I was 34.

I take care of myself- healthy diet, exercise regularly. I think it helps that I stay the hell out of the sun and dont spend much time outside. Im always clean-shaven too, which makes me look younger.

I used to look younger than my age until I got married and put on 40 pounds. Lost 20 of it but it's too late now: I look and feel every bit of 38 and 179.

My skin is fine now that I'm not washing my hands nonstop. When you're washing your hands before and after every patient, they're cracking and bleeding in short time.

The skin on feet are still like velcro from winter. Putting on mesh shorts requires some actual effort

I'm in my 60s but people say that I look as if I'm in my mid 50s if not younger. I tell people that what's responsible for my nice complexion is that 1)I use good makeup (while Mary Kay's a bit pricey it's better quality than going to the local drugstore and picking up Cover Girl, etc) and 2) I eat RAW onions (or at least raw onion slices). Most people I talk to won't touch a RAW onion with a ten foot pole, not even on their hamburgers or in chili or anywhere else.

Younger. I don't eat exceptionally healthy but I don't eat fast food, I love veggies and my sweet tooth is not as strong as when I was a kid. I need to exercise more. I have gained a lot of weight since I have become a caretaker for my daughter and Granny. I was working out every day. No sunscreen. I don't wear make up. I think the older you get the less you need. I don't want to end up an old lady with caked on makeup. I found my first grey hair at age 20 and decided to just let it happen. Again, I don't want to be an old lady with solid black hair.

Be healthy and age gracefully and naturally.

I look younger, for sure. When I was in my early 20s, I remember a mall security guard who thought I was under 18. And a guy from security forces thought so, too. But on base. And I think I was closer to mods 20s at that point.

My skin is usually good because Black Dont Crack... But really, I do use lotion. I have eczema as a child. But it hasnt really come back...

As for food, I most eat whatever taste good to me. No real special diet or anything...

I have hypermobile joint issues, and I look younger than I am. I avoid smoking / drinking / the sun and that's about it.

Friday I was at a convenience store and the two women behind the counter were asking me about my tattoos (one of the ladies wanted to get one). Was offering general encouragement and suggestions for artists. I mentioned I started getting mine done 7 years ago and one woman said "excuse me? They tattoo 12 year olds now?" She asked if it was ok to ask how old I was and I said 32, she thought I was at least a decade younger

One other time I handed my ID to a store clerk and he looked at it, then at me, and said "no."
"No?"
"There's no way you were born then"
I showed him another piece of ID. Clerk was 6 years younger but looked a lot older than I did. He didn't think my ID was fake he was just sad. Oof
