Halfway way done with Marvel's Spider-Man [2018] and I can safely conclude this is true.

I will admit that one noticeable improvement in the PS4 game other than graphics is the Point Launch mechanic.

spidey 2 movie game pretty much perfected web swinging.

2018 at least tried to copy its style rather than most other games that idiotically copies the usm ps2 style.

Yeah, the new game is the closest anyone has ever gotten to emulating the feel, but there's just something about Spider-Man 2's system that is still so satisfying. Maybe it's that the new game is a tiny too automated (you can literally hold R to do basic web swings while in Spider-Man 2 you just stay holding on to the web until you let go...and when web swinging the game kinda has a forcefield on the ground that keeps you from colliding with anything) and that there's no speed-up button.

Yeah, come to think of it, speed and inertia that affects how you swing isn't really that much of a thing in the new game.
