The exact text for Overkill states "Deal excess damage on your turn for a bonus", it's just that this situation hasn't been possible before that I'm aware of.

Mass Hysteria is one way that it could trigger now, it has shown up in a couple trolden videos in the last couple months. I think the paladin card Duel! should also do it, since its another forced attack card in that vein.

It's not a short lived craze. A lot of streamers are still playing it (but mostly tft now). A few streamers have gone to just play the game full time now (Like Hafu, who I hear is like one of the best players in the world). Hearthstone numbers are noticeably down and right now it's probably not changing to the game itself that would help it (unless there was a complete mechanic revamp... basically a new game) but how Blizzard is deciding the manage the game and their community. I'd like to mention that in almost all cases this is what has been the downfall of blizzard games because on a mechanical level a lot of their games are very good.

Alright I'm back from my month or two self-imposed Hearthstone exile. New expansion looks to be coming up, and it'll be the first one I don't pre-order in over a year. I'm not ready to commit back to this game and I'll have 4k gold and 26k dust by the time it gets here.

I remember seeing the new classic cards and the Mind Blast/Vanish HOF while I was gone, those are cool.

This Fire Festival thing seems to have solid rewards if I'm not confusing it with something else I might have missed, and apparently there's something to do with speedrunning?

Have I missed anything else?

EDIT: Damn the same Control Warrior list I was previously using is the top deck on HSreplay. Literally nothing has changed.

Yeah I think the Boomsday buffs just made the rich richer since Snip Snap is OP and fits in almost every deck that was at the top (Warriors, Mech Hunter, Hooktusk Rogue, even Mage uses it)

It made Paladin decent and Mage near elite, I guess

Watching the grandmasters Europe tournament for free packs, and I tuned in today just in time to see Orange throw the semifinals in a game that looked like he had a 100% chance to win.

Just how difficult it is to actually get info or updates on the progress of the season from an official blizzard source or website. Like When I played the game I wanted to know what these top players were doing or follow some of my favorites etc. But this has been nearly impossible to do for years.

Wait why would people on reddit not want Toast to reveal a card? What's wrong with toast?

1. Toast doesn't play Hearthstone any more. I believe he's said he'll play it again when new expansions come out but with the success he's seeing from TFT I'm not sure how long that's going to last.

2. r/Hearthstone has disliked Toast pretty much since he removed his eponymous mask. Most recently they got all pissy because he had the audacity to clickbait his youtube titles like literally everyone else.

3. Toast got a card and Thijs didn't.

At the end of the day, reddit hates Toast and doesn't understand that a large part of card reveals is trying to appeal to people not currently playing the game.

Eh. New Reno is totally going to get played in wild Reno mage.

Compare it to Dyn-o-matic, which is a 5 mana 3/4 that deals 5 random damage to non-mechs (including your non mechs), new reno is +1 mana, for +1/+2 stats, and deals 10 damage to enemy minions.

Like...that is absolutely a slam dunk into every wild reno mage for the rest of time.

Interesting brawl, though I don't get the naming scheme. My "Spells 245" deck seemed to only be about 1/3 spells but had about the same amount of minions that cost 8+.

There's a set number of synergistic archetypes. For instance "silver hand" with a bunch of silver hand synergy, and then the rest of the deck is filled with random cards.

So as far as revealed cards go, were still waiting on: Hunter/Priest/Rogue quests, the Shaman legendary, plus two neutral legendaries, with one more reveal today and the stream tomorrow.

IMO Reborn doesnt look that great so far, aside from some stuff like the warrior rush card. It seems like it will be awkward to fit a lot of them into decks.

I think Mage/Warrior/Hunter are the strongest classes so far - I think taunt warrior could be real, Mage/Hunter both got strong secrets and Mage got a bunch of secret synergy too. Rogue could be also good with all the death rattle cards they have had across the last two years, and mechathun rogue could be real.

Reborn is basically a different version of Divine Shield. (Instead of needing to ping and then kill something, you kill and then ping something). As a mechanic, it's fine; divine shield is super strong. Whether any of these newly spoiled cards are good enough to be played...I mean, I assume some are yeah, like the warrior Rush Mummy.

Its probably easiest to view if you sort by mana cost.

Thoughts after a quick scan:

The rogue quest looks really powerful to me - why do they get immune and why is the requirement so low? Like this slots into a deck with hench clan burglars and blink foxes (except for the mirror) easily, just add another steal card or three for consistency.

In Mage, draw a secret, set its mana cost to 0 is powerful. Shaman gets legally not Maelstrom Portal.

Notable neutrals: new egg, body wrapper, Pit Crocolisk (might fit in a battlecry Shaman deck as a fake blazecaller?).

Zephyrus the Great is kind-of amazing design.

Battlecry: if your deck has no duplicates, wish for the perfect card.

So...it's a deterministic discover. If you play it on turn 2 on an empty board, it always gives you the choice of the same three 3 drops (Animal Companion, Wild Growth, and Brightwing). If played with 9 mana facing a big board that dies to flamestrike, it will always offer flamestrike.

Really neat design. Seems to actually have zero RNG in what it offers. Really strong card too.

So...honestly, what I'll say is that hero powers that give weapons are muuuuuuuuch much better on turn 2 than they are on turn 7. Like, Justicar Truehart was trash in Rogue, whereas Baku was amazing in Rogue.

The hero power you get is like the Zap Cannon hero power from Dr Boom Mad Genius (Except it also blocks you from using any weapons in your deck). Like...yeah, dealing 3 damage a turn without your is...solid, but it's nothing we haven't seen it before.

But if you're saying Zephyrus will probably launch with at least one bug...yeah, probably. It looks like the most ambitious card they've ever made. The more complicated a piece of code is, the more likely it is there will be a bug. I also expect them to fix any bugs in a relatively timely manner.

I like Brightwing and all, but I think I've had worse rng with it than any other card in the history of Hearthstone. I've had Millhouse in my hand more over the last week than the last five years combined.

Just watched Kripp's rating on all the cards, and I mostly agree with him. Most interested in playing priest, or just using the rogue quest, but I can see reason to dip into a number of other classes. Doubling battlecries is always fantastic, as I've learned through extensive use of Murmuring Elemental. (And, of course, Brann 1.0)

I think my concern with the latest set is that it's a lot of build around, where the cards being built around are nearly all legendary. And I'm stingy about crafting legendaries (with good reason). So...I'm probably going to be on the outside looking in at all of the shiny new archetypes.

Cracked my packs early to avoid the rush on Tuesday. The main highlights were the Rogue/Druid quests, other legendaries were Warrior quest and the 10/10 neutral (from the 80 pack preorder).

I think my day 1 crafting list is Armagedillo and the Shaman quest, while Ill watch out for playability of the Rogue/Shaman legendaries and the Hunter quest. I want to mess around with a Taunt Warrior with Oondasta, but I think Quest Rogue/Shaman will probably be best for climbing early with quicker games, so they might be my starting points to get from rank 10 to 5.

Can you only open early if you preorder?

Oh right. I remember trying to do that last time and it not working. I'll just wait for tomorrow.
