I'm unsure of Earthquake at the moment, and Plague is in there solely because I won that Lucentbark game with it.

There's a ton of decision-making to this deck, which I think is really neat. If you go up against a Quest Shaman, you have no idea what to expect until the game goes on. Are they more aggro and just run a bunch of direct damage as their top end? Are they more value-oriented with Shudderwock? Somewhere in-between? Do you run any removal spells?

There are so many good Battlecries that even those archetypes don't cover all the decisions. Like, for example, I'm pretty sure I'm the only Shaman I've seen that runs Twilight Drake. I like it, though, because of the ridiculous amount of card generation the deck has. It's basically the only solid mid-game body in the entire deck, and it also helped set up one of my favorite moments I've had so far.

I was up against a Hunter who had two Unleash the Beasts on the board and I was sitting at 6 HP on Turn 9. I played my Shudderwock, which Lifedrinker'd my opponent twice, gave itself Rush and Windfury, taunted up my other minion from that new Lackey, and put itself up to 11 health from the Twilight Drake Battlecry. I was able to rush and kill both beasts, then transform it into a 10-drop from one of the Lackeys it generated for me, which gave me lethal for next turn.

Vulpera Scoundrel was something I was looking at, but I've only got about ~150 dust left and I needed to craft a ton of things on EU to make the deck. Also, I know for a fact I'm going to be enticed by the mystery choice too often and end up taking it over clearly better cards. Giggling was in my deck, but that's what I kicked out for Plague of Murlocs after the Lucentbark game. It's likely going to go back in eventually, probably for Earthquake or Fire Elemental.

Brightwing is the easiest cut from my deck. I'm willing to admit that the majority of cards I'm getting from it aren't things I want or will likely ever play, but I just like the card so I'm keeping it in there. And honestly, as bad as the card seems I'll probably try that that 8-mana Croc card that deals five damage to see if a Pyroblast on a stick is worth it against anything out there.

Has MCT worked for you? I was looking at it but I keep thinking I'd rather just have another aoe, maybe a Storm.

MCT has been way better than I expected. I started with two Storms and then checked some lists online and none of them had any, so I threw an MCT in there instead. It's almost single-handedly won me two games that I had no business winning otherwise, plus it has the added benefit of getting an extra proc of it off of Shudderwock.

Honestly, Vulpera Scoundrel has been pretty underwhelming. Though I did have one game it won me, of virtue of getting a Plague off of it on Turn 3 once. I was playing a priest with that 2/3 injured Taunt, and I was able to play Sludge Slurper on Turn 4 when my board still had 3 dinky things and got two Warleaders off of it.

My first version of the deck didn't actually have Shudderwock in it, just a ton of burn cards: two Wasps, two Fire Elementals, and two Crocs. It was really, really bad. Warriors just destroyed me.

I know it's Odd Rogue, but how do you not kill Zephrys in that position?

I mean...bearing in mind that Odd Rogue doesn't know the Warlock's hand...when I see turn 7 Frost Nova, I'm thinking "turn 8 Godfrey or Twisting Nether, turn 9 Void Lord, turn 10 Gul'Dan".

If they have twisting nether or Godfrey, you want to go face here.

If they have nothing, you still want to go face probably. (Chances are Rogue is holding Fungalmancer or Leeroy, so they likely want to trade off one board space anyway).

It's bad against Zola, obviously. But once Zola comes down...same arguments really: probably stalling for a board clear. With the added argument of "the only deck in wild that runs Barista Linchen is Shudderwock Shaman, so they shouldn't be able to bounce Zephrys again...right?"

If you are using Dopple/Grumble, you're gonna run out of hand space fast, so most of the zeph spells won't even end up in your hand. (Also you won't have that much incentive to cast Zephrys spells instead of just winning with shudderwock, unless Zeph is like your only win condition battlecry).

If you want to use Zeph a lot, probably the singleton Rogue deck makes the most sense of the decks I've seen. Shadowstep, waggle pick, and in wild throw in Zola, Valeera the Hollow, vanish...

I gave in and crafted Making Mummies so that I would have an anti-warrior deck. Named my deck "Fuck Warrior" so that it would show up like that in Blizzard's deck aggregation.

I didn't craft any other cards for the deck. No Da Undatakah. No Micro Mummy (epic for some reason). No Crystalsmith Kangor.

I went partially off of this post:

https://old.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHS/comments/cpdwa5/quest_heal_paladin_w_crystalsmith_kangor_high/

Which cut the Micro Mummy for a better Kangor's Endless Army (one legendary I do have). I don't have Siamat, but I have seen stats on Tirion being ok in this deck, so I ran that. I also have High Priest Thekal, which I ran here despite not having Crystalsmith Kangor to pair it with.

Other than that, just 2-of'd some of the 1-of cards in that list to fill in cards I don't have (2x Truesilver, 2x Khartut Defender). I'm running only one Blessing of Wisdom, but it has been solid despite the lack of Siamat in my list.

Compared to more traditional lists...not running Questing Adventurer (which the above guide recommends against saying blessing of wisdom is better; thinking I might go up to 1x Questing tho, the guide assumes Siamat) missing Micro Mummy (which the guide also recommends against) missing Da Undatakah (which...man, I find it hard to catch moments when the pressure is low enough to play Tirion, let alone Da Undatakah, and haven't lost a warrior match despite not having cast Kangor's against them, so I don't think I need extra value). Missing Sn1p Sn4p. I think it's bad if I'm not running Micro Mummy; nothing to magnetize onto early.

Some people on CompetitiveHS are down on Ancestral Guardian (the 4/2 lifesteal). I...don't agree, having played a bunch of hunter for tavern brawl I know hunter just hates that card (they have to kill it, but when they kill it the opponent still gains like 10 health).

Probably not the single best build of this deck, but feels pretty functional. Honestly, I think you can make this deck with just Quest + common/rare reborn minions + 2 mech eggs, 2 mech whelps + Zilliax + annoy-o-module + good paladin cards like consecrate etc.

Snip by itself is good against control, especially if you're running Zilliax.

I mean, the deck is designed specifically to beat control warrior with Mechano-Egg, and Mechanical Whelp as zilliax/hero power targets, and lots of reborn minions just to complete the quest. I'm 100% against control warrior so far.

The deck is looking for more ways to not die, and ways to beat enormous minions early on (like a big High Priest Ahmet board, or conjurer's callinged giants).

Know what card I wish was still in standard? Stoneskin Basilisk. I would run that in this deck unironically. Good target for the hero power.

Nah, I think Quest makes the High Priest Amet deck worse.

The deck that actually wants Quest is wall Mass Resurrection priest.

Here's a sample decklist:

Which...does probably require Catrina Muerte. (King Pharoris looks pretty cuttable). But typically doesn't run High Priest Amet.

I'm pushing rank 4 with a Highlander Quest Hunter I put together. I'm really pleased with how tuned it feels, though I'm sure there are a couple more optimizations I could make. I feel like i lose to zoolock 9 times out of 10 though, but I haven't run into any other matchups but that one that seem awful and generally feel favored.

So I guess I have a couple of questions.

1) Are there any tech cards that could swing the zoo matchup that aren't terrible for the general goal of quest hunter?

2) failing that, what deck curb stomps zoo in the event that I see so many I need to switch decks?

So far I've just been taking my lumps when I hit zoo and winning most of the rest.

Depends on the variant of zoo. But in general board clears and big taunts, so like Explosive Trap, Baron Geddon, having a decent sized mech on the board and then magnetizing Zilliax onto it.

For context, no hunter deck has a really good matchup against zoo, but the ones with close-to 50-50 are
Highlander, Mech, and Secret Hunter.

(I would also probably mulligan the quest against zoo; you need to get board control and run them out of gas, you probably have the lategame anyway).

2) failing that, what deck curb stomps zoo in the event that I see so many I need to switch decks?

If you want an actual counter deck, the deck that shits on zoo is control warrior.

Actually, I think full on taunt handbuff warrior with Into the Fray and Infested Goblin probably kills it even harder. Something like this:

Mage against Warrior, Warrior is at 6 and I have a Fireball in my hand, but I also have a Puzzle Box. And the rules of Hearthstone clearly state that one must play a Puzzle Box instead of lethal, so that's what I did.

I healed him for eight life, cleared my own board without touching his, burned four cards from my own deck and then shuffled worthless imps into it to turn off my Zephrys. Then he plays Boom on his turn. The spirit of Yogg lives on.

Not real sure what just happened to me. I was playing a Combo Priest and had taken the board from him with a big Pyro/Sound the Bells turn. Out of desperation, he played his last 3 cards at once: Psychopomp which got Blademaster, then DS/IF on the Blademaster for a 14/14.

My Pyro was a 6/1, so any spell I cast was gonna kill it, so I go face, then use Subdue (make a minion a 1/1) on the Blademaster to clear the board. I wasn't really paying attention, because I played more cards after the Subdue, but when I looked back to the board state, his Blademaster is still there as a 4/1.

Any idea why this might happen? I could see a glitch keeping the attack the same, but no, it reverted it back to 4 instead of 1 or 14, which seems unfathomable. And why would it survive a Pyro clear?
