Didn't read topic but I'm excited to relive classic wow, dunno if I'll "really" play it though. I don't even play retail as much as I should.

Will resub to WoW near the release date for sure. At least for a full cycle of Classic and hoping to see a BC server option in the future.

Nostalgia or not I enjoy revisiting old games and once in a while I play some with emulators

They did say in an interview that they have that up their sleeve. Not decided or anything yet though.

I've been putting on these like 3 hour loops of WoW ambiance from different zones at work lately

It's actually been great for keeping me on track (despite other external distractions. at least keeps me focused on work when I want to be)

Vanilla won't be a flop. Private servers were very popular and people played on them for years. Old School Runescape is still doing very well despite how old it is.

I never played a druid for a long time but for whatever reason when cataclysm came out and they vastly expanded the number of race/class possibilities I was inclined to make a troll druid and level it 1-85 upon launch as opposed to just taking my main through the new content

So for that one brief period I had a druid main. Leveled and did pvp as feral but raided as resto

Will always prefer healing in PvE

I rolled undead Warlock for my main back in the day, especially before some of the nerfs on Fear it was just a grand old time.

I also had a nice little Orc Shaman and if they are going back to pre-Frost Shock nerf, I would gladly do that again. Probably go Tauren Shaman this time... but man do I really like those undead starter zones.

I'm hyping myself up for classic by trying an ironman challenge.

-level 1-cap with 0 deaths
-no gear better than common (white) quality
-no gouping up
-no talents
-no professions

Maybe a couple other things, don't feel like posting the comprehensive list

Orc Warrior, currently level 14 in northern barrens.

I'm just now hitting the point where about half or more of my gear is supposed to be green, so I'm barely tipping my toe into the actual effects of it at this point.

Just did a quest in a cave and realized how important it is that I keep food on me. I'm used to that barely even being a thing in current retail leveling. But ending a fight with 25% health and not being allowed to have first aid...actually was terrified I was going to accidentally aggro something or have a mob respawn right on me. And they were runners, to make things worse.

Would I be interested in this if I've never played WoW before?

Idk I haven't decided how much I want to try hard and how much I want to just fuck around in like STV or something

People are going to get exactly what they asked for and they are going to hate if.

If you're going to make a big deal about releasing a previous version of your game, you should at least add in QoL features for it.

The rogue server on City of Heroes that came back at least added a ton of QoL fixes. The fact that WoW didn't to "give them what they asked for" is silly.

The creeping increase of QoL is part of what made the game become more streamlined and therefore lost that "everything is a struggle" feel that made vanilla WoW what it was.

Its not what it was when everything was new and exciting, but i had a little bit of fun with it when i was on a private server a bit ago. I still dont see this lasting a long time though

the only QOL thing they should really consider is transmog. it in no way makes things "easier", but its a nice feature to have.

There's QoL and then there's QoL. Like, I in no way whatsoever want a dungeon finder. A big part of the game to me was knowing where things were and actually going out to them. The dungeons might as well be in another dimension if you just warp to them with dungeon finder. However, basic UI improvements are certainly welcome. The one thing I'm fuzzy on is dual spec. That would be nice to have available in the game, but I can see how it might be along the slippery slope.

Does anyone know which version of WoW classic will emulate? Like, is it 1.0 or 1.14, or...? Playing hunter is considerably less attractive if it's before the class overhaul from 1.7 when survival was still supposed to be some kind of weird melee tree.

Mechanically speaking, starting on patch 1.12 but they're rolling out content in phases.

Man I look forward to talent trees again. Hybrid specs were a blast for solo queuing battlegrounds. I remember some point during lich king when I took both shadowform and lightwell and had a hell of a time in AB.

Now I get to wonder if Dire Maul is part of the roll-out or if they'll release content in the order it was released previously. Surely that's just for raiders, right?

Dire Maul was practically a 5 man raid when it released.

Actually I watched a video that is making me seriously consider mage. So much utility and it's high tier in both pvp and pve. Nice convenient quality of life choice in 2019 probably

I want to race levels at the beginning, assuming I play, and I only really know hunter and priest, so it'll be one of those two. Hunter is obviously faster, but priest will be more in-demand at cap if I were to continue, and I'm almost as effective leveling with shadow priests.
