Tomorrow is the deadline to pay 775 for a month's rent, and I will be unable to pay it. I don't even have money for food. The programs available out where I am won't be able to help me for one reason or another. I've no means to store all my stuff.

So I won't be able to bathe, won't be able to have an address for job applications, not that any place would hire me where I'm at apparently, and won't be able to feed myself.

This sucks so hard.

Sorry. Last time I gave someone money so they wouldn't be evicted they never paid me back.

Did you call up your relatives? No dignity is worth being on the street.

Last time I instantly needed money I took $500 off my credit card. Of course, I'm capable of paying that back once I move my money around from accounts.

My friends are too far. My family WAS here when I came back to this bleak desert I'd grown up in, but they moved a couple states away once I had paid them back for helping me then. A couple of those relatives offered to help again, but they live somewhere that would be even worse for me in regards to finding or getting to work (as I have no car).

You could have money transferred electronically.

I used this app once. It just goes from checking account to checking account.

Sounds nice, like my paypal account that's linked, but the question that follows is "Where is the money coming from?" I can have so many means to receive money sent my way, but it'll mean nothing without said money being sent, you know?

It's a reputable app, it's on the play store, I've used it before.

I've been asking since November/December when I still had a few thousand dollars to work with. Now I don't even have that. It took until the past couple weeks for a couple friends to be like "Oh, hmm, let me ask my [significant other] how they'd feel, oh nevermind they said they don't know you enough. Sorry."

If you absolutely can't find a job in one area, you're going to be stuck moving eventually. And you can't find work of any kind, or is it that you just can't find work in your field?

And you can't just crash with a friend for a little bit?

Okay. I don't know anything about your programs there. I hope you figure something out. $750 US doesn't sound bad. They're charging up to CAD $1500 (USD $1116) for a two bed in one of the most expensive provinces here. In a small town that isn't Vancouver, or close to. Low wages and high taxes, gas etc.

I mean......do you want real advice/help, or just to complain? Don't want to waste my time if you don't really want advice. I worked in landlord tenant law for years in CA, so unless you already got a 30 day pay or quit notice, you still have a month, and even if you did, the eviction process can take that long anyway (although it's best to not get an eviction on your record).

Meanwhile, tell me where you are and i'll get you a job around min wage within a few days. I can also find you a room for rent cheaper then what your currently paying, but not much cheaper depending on where you are in SoCAl (of course if you don't mind moving to a different area it could be much cheaper).

You could even work temp jobs at labor ready/people ready/manpower etc, and make enough for rent that way if you really wanted.

I also can help you live without a "home" pretty cheap, using a storage unit (public storage is $25 for the first month) and a place like planet fitness ($10 a month), to both give you a place to keep your clothes/other items, and shower, have TV access, and use libraries for computers etc (so you can easily look for a job etc). Total cost for your first month would be $35 (there is a $25 fee for the storage unit the first month). That would also give you time to find a job, make money and rent a room by the end of the month (in case you need to actually be out right away due to already getting a 30 day notice etc).

Almost anyone can avoid being homeless if they want...it's not hard. Unless your seriously disabled, you can make enough to rent a room and eat at least.....especially in places like California.

Yes, but you can also just use it *store* your possessions. One of the big problems with being homeless when you don't have a vehicle is lacking a secure location for your things.

He doesn't sleep in it, just keeps his stuff there, and no, that is not illegal:) You can even visit it every day if you really wanted, though there is really no need. It just basically lets you keep all your stuff till you have a place to stay again. You can keep changes of clothes etc there, video games systems and games that you can't play easily elsewhere etc. Some of em even have power in them (Cost a bit more) and if you have say a ps4 + PSVR you could actually pay it inside (or if you had a TV). But that is going a bit far....and there are better places to play them anyway with internet etc.

Topics about housing always makes me sad. My friend is moving to SF and rent is $1500 for one bedroom in a house with six people (it's to be closer to work because three hour commutes was too crazy). Transportation makes me sad too now that I think about it.

It's probably just California though.

California is pricey but pretty much everywhere you go in the states, much of people's income goes to simply keeping a roof over their head.

And yeah, 750 in socal unless your in a few really not great areas (in which case move), is probably just renting a room. Even if your renting a room, tenant laws still apply. You can't be kicked out of a room without a 30 day notice first, and then an eviction process.

If you feel unsafe in the home, there are solutions for that as well.

If you are actually renting your own place anywhere near a major city for 750$ a month, do whatever you can to keep that because seriously it's gold (and they do exist...many places have been renting for a long time without increasing the rent, so yep, you can get 1 bedrooms even in LA for $750 (or at least...you can still have them, new ones are not that low).

If your renting your own place for 750$ and it has a living room, consider converting it into another bedroom (Even with only sheets etc) and renting it out to a roomate (same gender so you feel safe) and reducing your expenses that way.

When I was in my early 20's I rented a 2 bedroom with 3 friends and we converted the living room like that, so we all only had to pay $200 a month each. We basically spent all our free time together anyway so it worked out great.

It's a "cheap" part of SoCal where I'm neither safe nor happy. That's why I've been trying to get out of here, to no avail, for the last four or five years. I'm positive that finding work would have been easier if I found a better place to be, even if it meant staying at a friend's for a little bit.

I'd love what help I can get at this point, but the "help" I have been getting has been less than beneficial to anyone.

Do you need to stay in CA for now? I can help you find a place/job near me easy, or get you set up almost anywhere, although you'll probably need some money to get started. It's actually a pretty hard time to find somewhere, but I've helped 3 people in the last month find places. One of them twice (because the first place ended up being a scam artist owner who got my friend to sign papers stating there was a $500 (two $250 fees) fee to move in, and then served him with a 30 day notice on the first night.

Luckily I know the laws and he served it by posting it on his door. He did not also MAIL a copy to him (which is required by law if you serve by posting), so the service was not proper. Took most of the month to find a place for him, but, he did have a criminal record and bad credit, so that made it much harder.

I helped a friend find a few places in Brooklyn NY as well, and places for another in Portland Oregon, but most of them have been in or near Olympia WA where I live. Depends on where you are, but you can generally get a place ranging from $350 a month to $600 a month in the most expensive places, usually including utilities/internet.

My current place is $391 a month with about $40 in shared utilities each (including internet). There are better/cheaper options, but this was a home with gamers which I prefer.

As far as work, it depends on the state but a min wage job temporarily at least, or even temp jobs etc, can easily get you the money you need to rent a room. Also if your a girl, there are often much cheaper rooms to rent for girls only (just stick to the ones that are all girls and avoid the ones with guys requesting a girl only cause.....ewww).

I can find you a place in SoCal pretty easy, if you have specific location or area in mind. Some places are far more expensive then others, but I can find you one under $700 anywhere (I mean, not Malibu heh....but anywhere logical).

I do not. I'd love to leave it behind, even.

My folks are in Centralia. Olympia seems nice if I can find a residence and a job. I'd ask my folks for help with such a move, but my stepdad would pick up and drive here when the man should not be straining his back for a bag of gromulch at this point, let alone moving boxes. I don't want to do that to him, ya know? At the same time any help you could give me in this would be most appreciated.

I'd rather avoid places like Boron where my situation would only get worse. lol... Also, I vaguely recall the cheaper areas down here requiring a car to get anywhere, including work. At least fifteen years ago it was the case where people moved to this desert for low housing costs, and spent those savings or more on car-related payments to get to and from their places of employment.

All the more reason for me to get out of SoCal, this time for good. (I had lived in Salt Lake City for a couple years where it was nice)

Where in SoCal can you rent for 775? That's cheap as fuck.

I rented a room here in the San Fernando valley for like $600 a month total.

Alright. Just so you know TC is female.

They are however a bloke if I recall right so technically "he" isn't wrong.
Still I love how some folk jump in to defend others who have no desire to point out this information themselves. It's like those who get offended for others who are not offended at all.
