I'm in the same boat. I'm not even watching BB21 anymore because it's just so toxic (the vitriol on Twitter doesn't help). With Survivor, I don't know if I want to keep watching the desecration of my favorite show. I'm prepared to write David vs. Goliath off as an anomaly that won't recur - it seems that production doesn't want it to. They want the show to be canceled.

BB21 isn't THAT toxic, certainly not compared to the last few seasons (the organized bullying of Brigitte, Paul's reign of terror, all of Level 6 + JC being terrible people). Toxic is a word that gets thrown out too often, as has been stated in other topics on this board over the past few months. Yeah there are some kind of unpleasant people, or people who are stuck up/elitist, but really the only actively toxic people are Isabella and Jack, and even Jack seems to have eased off a bit.

Allow me to rephrase: What's toxic is the Big Brother fandom turning the season into things it's not. Also, if we're talking Level 6, Rachel Swindler isn't a terrible person - a bit vain, sure, but someone who actually was trying to be nice. I'm with GTM on Kaycee also. The other four, however... yeah. And on the FOUTTE side, we had Swaggy and Rockstar, two absolutely despicable excuses for human beings.

I just legit don't care about BB and the recent years have been building up to this.

As for L6, I didnt really include Rachel and Winston in that comment because they were gone early but yeah your assessment of Rachel is right. Kaycee showed her true colors in the episode I think after Rockstar was evicted when she was bullying Scottie to try and take the blame for something she knew for a fact he didn't do, and then laughing about how she made him feel like crap. That's not something a "great person" does.

Rockstar said many racist, sexist, and/or nasty things about all kinds of people and has continued to defend those horrible comments on Twitter. There was also how she was such a spoiled brat about her daughter's birthday and other such instances. She is a legitimately nasty person. I did not remember that about Kaycee. Scottie's not a great guy by any means, but that sounds like a jock bullying a nerd...

TAR22... I'm through episode 7:
Gotta say, I love how they updated the intro with on-Race footage. I legit laughed hard when Matt & Daniel were given the most embarrassing thing possible.

Knew the first Botswana leg had to be non-elimination. Pam & Winnie going out for switching Detours too quick and/or missing the ostrich was kinda sad. Was just starting to really enjoy them. The speed trap was an interesting change of pace, but brought out the worst in people. I'm also kind of surprised that Max & Katie weren't penalized for damaging the vehicle. The whole "Botswana safari" thing was pretty dang cool - always is. This season has pretty good locations overall; only Hanoi so far has been kinda "blah" for me.

I have seen episode 8 but barely remember it so there's that too...

This is correct. She was still in concussion protocol the night before the cast was to fly out, so they called up the alternate, Fan Favorite Sierra Dawn Thomas, to take her place. Natalie never flew out to Fiji.

TAR22 - through episode 9:
Swiss Alps are always nice, as was that Switchback. Glad to see Chuck & Wynona go - they were starting to get on my nerves. She was so whiny

Night leg in Germany was AWESOME. I couldn't help but notice that it was set up for six teams, though. There were six Ford Fusions in Dresden and six clues at the Roadblock. Did something change with the Speed Bump? Also, what the hell was with the Michigan license plate? That's the Autobahn, and I wouldn't think a U.S. license plate would be over there. Was that perhaps stock footage from Ford, shot in Detroit?

Updated team opinions...
Max & Katie - Katie just won me over completely with the Legends of the Hidden Temple reference. She's already very CPM, which makes her quite compelling as someone who came to play as a villain.
Joey & Meghan - These two are still fun. For some reason, I remembered a low opinion of them, but they're not being shoved down any throats. They get fun little moments here and there but those are decreasing as the stress of the Race continues.
Caroline & Jennifer - One of my favorite teams. A lot of fun to have around. That said, they WANT to go to the end with the strongest team there? Uhh.
Bates & Anthony - They're alright. Nice guys for the "jock bro" type especially. They're not doing as much for me as they could.
Mona & Beth - Like with the Bowling Moms, "Your kids are going to be so proud of you!" never gets old. However, these two feel kind of just... there. Their competitive spirit seems to be dying. They didn't think to jilt the hockey bros on the way to the Pit Stop, doing something like pulling over two blocks early, then driving ahead and making the mat first.

Chuck & Wynona - Annoying. She whined too much. He wasn't supportive of her, though seeing as she was already complaining and was holding them back I can't necessarily blame him. They have "divorce" written all over them.
Pam & Winnie - Fun girls. Strong team. Only somewhat memorable, though, as they didn't really have any defining moments that would transcend seasons.

And that last statement is something about this season: While it's really good, it's not TAR5 for me. TAR5 had memorable moments and memorable teams galore while going to places like fucking Egypt. This season has had great leg design and some great locations, but it doesn't have the Colin/Mirna war, Colin's subsequent series of meltdowns, or the same ridiculous amount of CP teams. It does have John's self-humiliation (that was OTTN), the Botswanan speed trap, and a few good little things, at least. It's a top 5 season. But having just rewatched TAR5... yeah.

Over at Sucks where being an M/M team means you already have an uphill battle for popularity, Bates/Anthony are probably the most well-liked alpha-male team in race history.

Theyre one of MY favorite alpha male teams for sure. Strong and dominant, but never overbearing or hammy for the cameras. Just chill, likable guys.

Yeah... I usually don't like the alpha male teams because those are typically egotistical meatheads that I love to see get royal comeuppances. These two guys are NOT that at all - they're extremely likable for their archetype. They're just not as developed as other teams. All I know is that they's brothers who play hockey and haven't been on the same team, that Anthony lost his two front teeth by hockey puck, that Bates and Jennifer have a thing going, that a thief took Bates's bag on the train, and that they're very nice, chill guys. I feel like I don't know anything about their relationship or why they're running the race.

I legit do like all five teams left, at least. Which is nice. But I like having someone to root against and season 5 had Mirna and then Brandon/Nicole.

Maybe I'm misrembering because they weren't that bad this season, but I don't really remember Tyler being an obnoxious screamer in Season 28. His problem was his cliquey-ness, especially when he treated Burnie and Ashley like they were terrible people because they helped out Sheri and Cole once.

Korey was fine in both seasons, and Tyler was definitely toned down in 31, but he was VERY MUCH in his attention-grabbing YouTube persona all season in 28. Plus hating on the two best teams in the F4.

TAR22:
Joey & Meghan in 5th - some really good editing there. Quite the rude awakening to see only two cars. Max is SUCH a troll and I like that. He and Katie seem like my kind of people, really.

so yeah, Caroline & Jennifer in 4th like I thought. At first it seemed that the Roadblock time was a bit too lenient, but probably not. The Detour tasks were pretty hard, though I think they opted for the one that was more lax with judging, though I think they didn't have to do too much advanced blending with their graffiti (the artist finished that). Despite taking what seemed to be an hour at the Roadblock and then getting directions to the wrong thing, I don't know how far behind they ended up being, given how badly Mona embarrassed herself by trying the same two things ten times and expecting a different result. I'm just glad they didn't say "This is not the correct course" because that'd have been too much of a tip-off. Also, Bates REALLY lost his cool there - why. exactly? Anthony was nowhere near as bad as Mona with that. Must've had a really short fuse from the stresses of the Race.

Its really scary how accurate that video is. People won't stop. People won't quit, not enough to be effective anyways. Survivor's lifespan is too long now for it. It is still insanely cheap to produce, it still does really well in the key demo, often winning it's time slot. And my favorite thing that it said was "it doesn't matter" because there is absolutely no pleasing everyone with this show. Even DvG had its detractors. And plus, for production, they do have backup in case we get an All-Stars or GC scenario where all the stars go home early.

The beat case scenario for us now is that they learned their lesson and they won't give the half idol anymore, at least at the final 6 AND that the players police themselves and kill whoever comes in at 6.

Bates losing his cool in that challenge was pretty funny, between his loud and to the point "IT'S WRONG!" and upon seeing the shattered plates "Who did that?" "Anthony." Cant remember if he was directly involved in the latter but the implication was that he was gonna flip.

David vs. Goliath is now available on DVD from Amazon. To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Nick/Mike/Angelina/Davie/Christian/Gabby are on the cover.

I think this is the quickest a season has ever been available on DVD following its broadcast.
