it took me forever to find a good Family Guy quote, there's a lot of memorable dialogues and scenes but not a lot of great one-liners. I don't know anyone that regularly quotes Family Guy anymore tbqh. We'll see how it fares against the biggest Schwarzenegger franchise, because if that Dark Fate trailer indicated anything it's that people are fucking sick of Terminator.

After all those comments about video games not being quotable, Portal brings in some heavy votals and absolutely crushes Overwatch, which, in theory, should be a little more quotable thanks to the abundance of one-liners in the game.

Of course, quantity is nothing over quality, as we can also see from our second match where Terminator had no trouble terminating Family Guy.

But does Family Guy really have quantity either? I was racking my brain to find some good Family Guy quotes. It's been a while, so maybe my memory is just failing me, but I only saw one user post a FG quote in yesterday's topic and I didn't even recognize it. Maybe FG is more memorable for its plot than dialogue.

That's right, Susan! RedLetterMedia, despite being a 2 seed and one of the most quotable video series out there, almost got beaten by an indie game with no Wikiquote page!

I'm a little surprised on a personal level because RedLetterMedia is so quotable that Mike and Jay themselves have actually stopped going to conventions and stopped interacting with fans online because they're so sick of people going up to them and shouting RLM quotes. They also make fun of their own fans for stinking up the YouTube comments section with overused quotes.

I guess there's not much of an RLM fanbase here on Board 8, just enough to get it over a 2 seed but not enough to match the massive amount of votes Star Wars brought in on its own yesterday. Meanwhile, two voices suddenly cried out for Taylor Swift and were suddenly silenced.

So I guess I'm getting that gag Star Wars / RedLetterMedia Round 2 match I set up, but you gotta wonder how far the Star Wars train is going to go. Like one user said, r/PrequelMemes has propelled Star Wars quotability to new heights over the past few years, flooding the internet with new Star Wars memes and quotes almost weekly. Could Star Wars be our Link?

In all honesty I'm kind of surprised neither joke CD-i entry went anywhere. These things commanded the early internet. You couldn't go two videos on YouTube without hearing "I CAN'T WAIT TO BOMB SOME DODONGOS." I guess that type of humor didn't age as gracefully as Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged.

Also I'm happy Silent Hill showed up. I dunno if horror game SFF exists in this setting but Resident Evil is shaping up to be a powerhouse. It's REALLY powerful. But can it escape its own division?

I'm really impressed with every entrant yesterday! Both matches played out like they should have been in a later round. Big Lebowski, which should have a lot of strength in this contest, couldn't completely stomp out Mean Girls. Maybe next year we'll see Mean Girls return with a higher seed. That would be so fetch. Am I doing this right?

Meanwhile Zero Wing proved to be one of our best video game entrants. The game only has like two dozen lines total but I'm pretty sure most of this board could quote all of them from the top of their head.

Zero Wing almost mounted a comeback at the end but HR had too strong of a start and we don't really get votes at night so it was basically locked up from the start. Zero Wing definitely deserves another shot in a future contest as well.

It seems Best Indie Game Ever was not alone in raking in the votals yesterday. I thought it was maybe because Simpsons and Phoenix are so beloved on this board. Maybe VVVVVV is, too, or maybe we just had a bunch of bored people hanging around the board on a slow Wednesday.

Regardless, we had two matches with two identical results. I'd argue that Simpsons might be in trouble as Kung Pow is probably stronger than Just a Pancake, but honestly Pancake, which is something I literally did not know about before this contest, somehow pulled in the same amount of votes as Firefly, Life is Strange, JonTron, Silent Hill and Dragon Ball Z combined, and the same amount of votes as Alien.

Now if you tell me that Just a Pancake is stronger than Kung Pow, I'd say:

This completely recontextualizes R1. Is Hotel Mario stronger than we think? How strong is Sonic? How weak is Holy Grail? Is this what 2002 felt like?

Looks like we're headed to a fairly mundane (1) v (2) final in the Spongebob division, which is cool and all, but it would have been nice to see Avengers pull off this upset. I didn't expect it to even stay close to the Spongebob juggernaut. Is this speaking to the weakness of Spongebob or Avengers? I guess we'll see, I'm not sure how strong Anchorman will actually be when it comes up against a real competitor in Spongebob.
