Yeah I have encountred like only three issues in the pc version, all of them with the same root cause

1.it takes like 5 seconds from the "press any key" pops up to the moment it recognize any key
2.after a bad ending game over and going back to the main menu the keys didn't register at all
3.after skipping a cutscene one time, the keys didn't register

Otherwise it's flawless
My only other concern are items stuck in the ceiling and walls which I have no idea how it got over betatesting but it was fixed/will be fixed in a patch

But yes, it's dumb, and it's an issue that plagues Japanese games in general. I can see being annoyed by it if you don't play much Japanese stuff.

I said I was enjoying the game! I genuinely like it but castlevania has a reputation for having crisp and tight gameplay since NES so its weird to go so far backwards with this game. Maybe part of it is that I'm playing on the switch, but I don't think thats the full picture, since I also have a lot of issues regarding visibility of enemies and inconsistent hit/hurtboxes.

I don't know if I've just gotten accustomed to the Switch version's janky mess but lately it hasn't gotten too bad for me... other than the damn loading times which are still hell (esp. loading saves, yes colliding)

but when I revisit the Towers with a bunch of fast mobile power-ups it wasn't being super laggy like my first visit was, or at least how I remembered it

I still like the game a lot, but yeah it's a massive technical mess on consoles and even further mess on the Switch

ok, well that's terrible.

I like the game well enough. despite the terrible mc design and the iffy voice acting, none of that really matters if the gameplay is classic ds metroidvania (which it has been so far)

but seriously, this load time is ridiculous. it didn't even kick me to the title screen or anything. I went straight from a game over screen to a three-minute long loading screen and back to my last save. that's crazy.

I've done a bit more research and apparently it only takes 3-5 minutes to reload after death if your previous save is in a different area than the area where you died

I have been playing through this game, it's a lot of fun and is on par with the rest of the IGAs like it (I guess most notably Dawn of Sorrow).

My main issue is there's still so many bugs and glitches and such. I just fought the Money hat guy boss (I forgot his name), and the slowdown on it was so incredibly bad, it was almost unplayable. Didn't help I was using big summons that take a lot of gameplay resources, I guess, but it was laggy even before that. The map also still doesn't work, theres chests placed out of bounds and stuff. I think theres a couple more things along that order I forgot.

Edit: Oh yeah the long load times after you die is a problem too. But I just assumed that was a "tribute" to Symphony of the Night.

That stuff aside though, the game is great. Just needs a bunch of patches.

Crashed at Tower of Twin Dragons
When I read a bookshelf
Crashed at the Inferno Cave

It wasn't that much of an issue for me cause I had saved often before it spontaneously crashed on me.

I enjoyed it all the same as every Castlevania/Metroidvania I've played in the past.
I can't wait for the patch to come out next week so it fixes the growing pains it has had since launch.
I'm looking forward to whatever content is also coming out in the future.

Done with this game
Didn't bother farming every shard to Rank 9 and Grade 9, only got the passive shards to rank 9 so that they will be always-on
Beat the game on hard on NG+ and started it on Nightmare...but I am worn out, so I will probably not finish this

Game was fantastic. I wish I could hug Iga and tell him that his game is good. I hope he knows it and I hope it sell well and we will have another Bloodstained game someday
I feel like they put a lot of love into the game, even for minor stuff - like techniques. I am pretty sure the majority of players didn't even bother using them.
And yet they are fucking cool
Plenty of items to collect, weapons to craft, each with it's own description

In terms of bugs, besides the minor problems I mentioned, I think the PC version is perfect. 5 seconds to load the game, then no loading times at all. Saving, using a teleport room or a waystone are almost instant
Each boss fight is unique, they all look cool and have own patterns

As for DLC - I don't think I am going to care about it. I am super broken right now, max level, max gear, endless money so I can buy all the healing items I want, what can of DLC can they even offer that will be interesting? fighting against Iga will probably be a joke in my current state..

Anyway, maybe one day I will come back to this game and play it in Nightmare mode. It sounds insanly tough, but fun

Couldn't wait so I started it a day after lol

Just beat it on Nightmare
It was super tough at the beginning, but the more you play you advance, the easier it becomes.
You get more enemies to kill, more item drops, more food to make - more bonuses
I used Dullahan Heads + True Arrow + Head Flail for most of the game, until I got Aqua Stream, which replaced True Arrow
I really didn't find True Arrow to be so broken..it got the job done, but didn't make it super easy either. Zangetsu 2 was also a challenge because he hit so hard, I had to get every food bonus possible to prepare for him

I am not going for 100% completion (besides the map), but there was one thing I wanted to do - beat ----OD----
And I just couldn't. This thing is impossible in Nightmare. I have all the money in the world so I can buy endless amount of food items, so there is no problem there. The problem is...his time stop attack + ice shard instakill me and I don't see how the fuck I am supposed to evade it. It's either super broken and stupid or I am missing something

Eh, I see this type of argument a lot and I understand it, but I can't get behind it myself. I feel like it should not be my job as a player to decide what character builds are "too good" and make me too powerful. That means the character building is no longer a series of interesting strategic choices, instead, character building is just another difficulty slider.

This is a weirder point: And, on a more general level, I want to buy video games that are fully designed, I don't want to have to fix the game myself. If I have to intentionally add rules to make the game more fun, I might as well make my own game at that point. In games where I have to tweak it to make it more fun, I feel like I lose my personal connection with the "artist's intent", so to speak. It makes me feel like I'm not playing what the designer intended, it makes me feel like I'm not playing what my friends are playing. I agree with some of the changes, not sure about all of them. Character choices should all be trade-offs, is my opinion. If a shard is just plain great, then it should at least be hard to find--that's my problem with "Welcome Company" in particular, the paintings are sooooo common you're guaranteed to get a huge stack of that shard.

I'm not familiar with a lot of the shards listed though, so can't speak to most of them.

And I have to admit, having some shards being better than others IS pretty cool game design, because it rewards those who experiment with all the shards they get. So hopefully they didn't nerf most of them too much.

Though I will say if you do em making a separate mode for using the balance patches or not is ideal

Like Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo rerelease rebalanced the gem patterns of the characters but you could play "Classic" mode if you didn't want that. To play online IIRC you had to use the rebalanced patterns but if you wanted the original experience it was open to you.

This is a different beast but I can't say having my playstyle rebalanced out from under me sounds particularly appealing
