I'm honestly not entirely sure of my friends' political affiliations; however, I'm a Democrat and I believe at least some of my friends are Republicans. Statistically there aren't going to be many of them, considering this is CT so more of my friends are inevitably going to be independent/unaffiliated or Democrat.

Somewhat surprisingly, given that I live in one of the most liberal parts of the country, I have roughly equal numbers of liberal and conservative friends.

And to be pedantic, only the topic title is asking about political parties; the poll itself just uses left and right as identifiers (makes sense given that, even in the US, there are more than two political parties).

Of course it's not going to mention specific parties in the poll, considering that parties aren't consistent across nations because the Great American Empire has yet to establish itself across the rest of the world, which won't happen until President-for-Life Donald Trump's fifth term.

I'm pretty much centrist right down the middle and most of my friends seem to be somewhere in the middle as well. I don't really have any friends that are far on the left or right.

As far as family goes all my blood relatives are strongly conservative, and the majority of my wifes family are more liberal minded. One exception is my younger brother-in-law, who is one of my favorite people Ive ever met yet is also a diehard trump supporter

I have some right wing people I get along with, because for the most part they are single issue voters and don't actually follow politics. I don't agree with them and believe they are voting against their own interests, but you do you. The few heavy Republicans I know that back Trump 100% constantly bring it up and talk about how libs are ruining the coubtry. I do not get along with them. But my close friends are either apolitical or left leaning.

I dont belong to either party but I only keep one friend anymore and he was democrat when younger and turned conservative and its had zero effect on our friendship. But we rarely get into politics other than an occasional brief dicussion on something thats a hot issue at the moment. Usually if politics get brought up its to mock a politician that said or did something stupid and we are pretty much willing to bash both sides when it comes to that.

I had another friend who was an extreme liberal. Who was cool by me until politics was all he wanted to talk about. I get tired of arguing when I know nobody is changing their mind anytime soon. Same reason i avoid politics with certain family members who are devoutly republican

I have no friends nor do I have a interest in politics. I generally turn off when a conversation about it happens. What's more annoying is those who insist you must care despite telling them you don't. At that point I just walk away.

I'm not even sure what Political party I belong in nor do I care, I agree more with conservatives on most subjects but the policies/attitudes I strongly "disagree"(using that word lightly) with are typically conservative.

I just hate the ones who non-stop must bring it up, I have a friend who nearly every other day is like "Hey did you hear about Trump doing this cool thing? The librels are super upset!" and I just want to play video games.

I have friends from multiple political viewpoints, and we generally stay friends because literally none of us want to discuss politics with any of the rest of us. I also have friends with multiple religious alignments while I'm a secular agnostic.

So long as you're not a preachy asshole, it's very easy to have friends of differing ideologies.

I don't know. I don't pay enough attention to that shit to even know what category I fall under, let alone that of others. If you aren't a stupid asshole about it we can totally be friends if we have many different opinions.

Being that I'm a musician, my friends are almost all on the left. Some even identify as communists and stuff like anarcho communist. There are some musicians on the right but it's rare. I know a few libertarian guys from a band I used to play in. I, myself, would say I'm very slightly on the right even though I definitely have some views that dont align with most on the right like being pro choice, in favor of marijuana legalization, not religious yada yada
