Same. It's right up there with Black Flag for me. Put about 120 hours in before I beat it. Got the platinum. Took a break to play some other games and just went back last week to start on DLC. Game has an insane amount of content.

It's a good game but it isn't Assassin's Creed since they turned it into an action RPG closer to Witcher gameplay than stealth based like older games.

Weird how it says Assassin's Creed on the cover, ok?

Good luck actually assassinating somebody in it. You just get sneak attacks and then still have to fight them.

Great game but they're getting away from what the series used to be. Besides the Animus, there's pretty much nothing that ties it in with the rest of the series.

I ended up with about 700 assassinations in my playthrough.

They gave up on any of the story being connected or making sense after 3, ok?

You just aren't building up your assassination damage enough if that is the case. I have no problem assassinating pretty much anything except mercs and bosses. Even then, I can still take off like 3/4 of their health with one attempt.

Good the story of the early games is mostly dumb and went no where

They dont even need all the animus stuff honestly just keep making cool open world historical era action games

It's okay, I still miss counter killing everything though. Sure it was easy, but at least it looked cool.

If you try fighting way above your level even grunt enemies don't go down in an assassination.

Yeah. Series has gone less assassin and more super hero.

Nothing beat the first one. All the planning and sneaking. Story that made sense and was engrossing. You actually had targets to go after rather than random mass-murder. If you fucked up the kill/sneak, you were dead.

Not saying this isn't fun, but it's not like the older games, and no a lot to do with being an assassin. . .

Well, aside from exploring beautiful scenery, it's all the same shit, really. Kill the fort leader, burn something, kill an animal. . .no resources to upgrade equipment which becomes next-to-useless really fast. . . you're punished for exploring as quests take you back to a place you've already cleared to do it all over again. . .gacha and useless collections. . .boring story and main quests. . .

You're not supposed to fight enemies way above your level.

Sorry I just find the whole level mechanic to be ridiculous in an assassin's creed game. It just works in tandem with gear to entice buying loot boxes.

True, but I still enjoyed the game a lot even with its leveling system.

Yeah I enjoyed it too. Just lost some of that magic. It feels more like the witcher, which isn't a bad thing by any means.

Building up skills that way makes it an action RPG and not a stealth game like the other titles. Except Origins of course.

Or, you know, both.

The two genres aren't mutually exclusive. You can have an action RPG that is also a stealth game. If anything Origins and Odyssey are more stealth then the earlier games because they actually include more ways to hide yourself then earlier games.

Yeah there's plenty of stealth and assassination in Odyssey.

Also, pretty much every game in the series is action-adventure with elements of stealth. The series was never stealth-focused in the way games such as Thief, or Styx, or even Splinter Cell are. Stealth has always been much more relaxed in the AC games.
