*Just putting a second spoiler warning for Toy Story 4, How to Train Your Dragon 3 and Wreck it Ralph 2 just in case*

Wreck it Ralph 2: ends with Venelope leaving her game and staying in a new game.

How to Train Your Dragon 3: ends with Hiccup setting Toothless free and Toothless leaves.

Toy Story 4: Woody stays behind with Bo Peep at the carnival and leaves the group.

I guess the new trend is everyone leaving?

They think that they are killing off their franchises deliberately by doing so, to end things, but instead, they set them up for the next sequel.

I would not be surprised in a few years if Toy Story 5 were to be released in the next few years and it would be about the toys trying to get Woody back to Bonnie because Jesse is not a good leader, as well as Bonnie crying over not being able to find Woody, even though she neglected him over the course of the movie, and Woody being torn on staying with Bo and the other lost toys when he has to convince them to come with him.

I miss it when they tried more esoteric things to attempt to kill off their franchises. Nitrous Oxide in Crash Team Racing was deliberately MADE to kill off the Crash Bandicoot series, since ht was an alien and did not fit at all into the series (at the time), as well as a lame excuse for everyone to be racing. That backfired, seeing how he became the most POPULAR character in the series.

A generation of kids who grew up in broken homes after being abandoned by one of their parents have now reached the age where they can make movies, and are working out their own issues through the medium of film.
