Played AC1-4, but never this one. Current knowlege I have about the game:

1) It's part of the Ezio trilogy, so I'm guessing it involves him in some way
2) Assassins kill people

Let's do dis.

Oh god, Ezio's facing his hardest opponent yet: the forced, integrated tutorial. I don't remember much about AC3 (something about a hang glider and climbing a jail tower), so that's probably gonna work against me here, lol.

I consider brotherhood the best of the original formula, just behind 4.

Definitely the best fashion.

I think it did some things right over 2, the Recruit system and the crossbow being added being the highlights. The introduction of the horrible optional objectives was a a low, however.

Oh, yeah, I still hate how that's chased the series all the way through. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Ezio: I let Borgia live lol
Mario: I trust your judgement

City: I'm burning down lol
Ezio: How did we not see this?

The fashion has been pretty good, yeah. I think the Ubisoft store (or whatever they call it) has some additional outfits to buy and I have some club points saved up from FC5. Might be worth getting 'em.

As for optional objectives, I don't know if I've seen any yet. This flashback-laden stuff so far has been kinda on rails.

Beware the ubistore skins, as they toggle from one of the menu options as opposed to getting dressed at a store. Took forever for me to figure that out. I don't regret playing half the game as young Ezio though, he had that jojo swag.

It's weird, after the original one they changed quite a bit, and these last two are only really AC games in name more than anything else.

@OP The Ezio trilogy is pretty dang good, and it ties in to the main story through 3 so I don't know how you didn't play them before lol.

Maybe I got too invested in the modern day Animus stuff though.

I just remembered...I hate all the "current era" characters, including Desmond. The current search and assassin-templar battles always seemed way crappier than in the old days. I guess there was that scientist dude in AC1 who was kinda interesting, albeit in a douchey way, but everytime you're outside of the memory, you just think, "damn, I wish I was back there".

In AC3, didn't Desmond and several other modern characters die? That seems like a good reason to flush the deadweight.

Welp, got up to memory three after going through some old sewers and a temple inhabited by wolfmen. Time to hit up the brothel and those other two places that aren't as interesting.

Well, it was only Desmond, and some Assassin-turned-Templar character that they introduced in 3.

There's a scene in a later game where a character is wounded but AFAIK they don't address that in the games again, maybe in some of the files you can explore in Origins or something but I don't recall reading about it, then again I played Origins a long time ago and then played through all the other ones :\

Could've sworn annoying British quip machine at some point, but maybe I'm just mixing fantasy with reality. Everyone else has gotten some decent lines so far, though.

Not gonna lie, from the moment they introduced that character I was waiting for the reveal that he was an undercover Templar and you'd get to kill him.

I think they toned him down and made him into a likeable character with 3 though.

Ahh, so that's what it was. I feel a little bad about not replaying AC2, but...meh.

Anyway, just trying to find the madame who was kidnapped by slavers...right in the center of town...far, far away from the brothel. I'm sure this scenario made more sense at the time. Being able to pickpocket the hoi polloi by holding down X (I'm playing on PS4) is convenient, though. Was that something Bro'hood invented or was that in AC2 and I just forgot?

You could definitely pickpocket in AC2 but I don't think it was ever used too much in the game from what I recall.

You could even pickpocket in the original AC game but it was only specific targets (messengers carrying assassination target clues and thugs for their throwing knives).

Yeah, I remember being able to pickpocket those fat dudes with knives in AC1, but not just holding a "steal button" down and robbing peasants for all they're worth. I wish those annoying beggars had a few cents, but I guess that's not a very flavorful turn.

It was an annoying mechanic in AC2 because IIRC it just automatically raised your notoriety level. Not by much at all, but even a single percent there would cause your minimap to explode with icons :\

Been screwing around a bit, killing those dudes who guard the towers you blow up. One mission sends you to kill him, but he starts ten feet away with no allies, so you can murder him before he leaves the driveway. Killed some random guy by murdering all of his retinue when he fled, then waited on the roof until he respawned, all alone like a lost little lamb. A bit of good news that makes for a change of pace, considering how many times I've tried chasing these cowardly bastards, only for Ezio to slow his pace to fight his lackeys. Or the times I've accidentally jumped off roofs to my death.

Ahh, now I've advanced far enough to get notoriety for small bits of aberrant behavior. Still, what the hell possessed Ubisoft to put wanted posters up on second-story scaffoldings? That makes no sense.

Not gonna lie: taking assassins off the street and raising them like pokemon is kinda fun. It's even better that you can summon them in battle and get bonuses for having a certain amount, like instakilling guards with arrows. If the game was filled with Ubisoftian busy work like this, I wouldn't even mind staring at that cluttered mess of a map.

Welp, finally got the opportunity to start killing actual major targets a whopping 5+ memory sequences into the game. Neither (fat banker, random French general) was very interesting, though. At least they would make the villains more interesting in AC3.

Welp, killed Cesare and found the Eden in modern times. Gotta admit, I can see how some people love this game, but I found it rather underwhelming. I wouldn't call AC1 great by any measure, but at least it was actually about assassinations first and foremost. This had way too much sidetracking and Ubisoft tampering to really rival AC4 to me.

That said, I do have AC Revelations here as well. Worth finishing the trilogy or is it going to be more of the same?

Rev was better than Bro IMO. I loved it. But I'm kind of in the minority.

Killer setting, and it has an actual conclusion for both Ezio and Altair.

Revelations is similar to Brotherhood. It expands on the Assassin mission management aspect and streamlines fast traveling a little bit (you don't have to buy the places to unlock the fast travel point, just have to explore the area). Also gives you a grappling hook to slide down.

ALSO... it wraps up the Ezio story line in a really great way. And it has really surreal historical sights to "tomb raid".

They have those Synch points in all the AC games really, though they become less intrusive / easier to mount in later games.

I don't mind towers that much, but it does wear a bit thin after awhile, especially like Bro'hood did with gating entire areas off and locking building purchases behind their (towers') destruction.
