I had a topic about this, but it archived. Im watching all of Dragon Ball og/z/gt/s.

Im about halfway through the fourth saga. Goku, Bulma, and Krillan are in an underwater cave looking for a ball and theyre being attacked by robot pirates.

Im enjoying it so far but its a lot more cartoony than I thought it would be. Like, lots of violence but no deaths. And lots of guns but no one gets hit. LOTS of perving on young girls, especially from Roshi, but there was the scene where the two army guys were going to rape Bulma. That was more intense than I expected.

Anyway just giving an update. Im gonna try and finish this series by the end of the year.

Very exaggerated movement by characters. Like a bad joke will make someone fall over. Or the nosebleeds from seeing panties.

I liked the time krillan won a fight because he doesnt have a nose.

I remember thinking it was very cartoon-y (especially since I saw DBZ first) but when actually get deep into the action and drama its even that more shocking to see it get so serious and dark, because you dont expect it.

Youre used to this innocent little Goku and his silly adventures, and then shit hits the fan really fast and it leaves you uneasy. I like that

All of what you mentioned are reasons why dragon ball is great. Have you legit never seen any of Z? Because it sounds like it and I'd be surprised.

Also it does get more serious later and in certain parts of the series.

Ive seen a few scattered episodes, but that was when I was pretty young and it played on Toonami. I dont remember much except fighting scenes against aliens.

I came into this expecting nonstop fighting and energy blasts and dragon balls, but its neat how its really just a kid (with a weird unexplained monkey ability lmao) trying to find an heirloom and making friends (and enemies) along the way.

Gokus cluelessness about everything - especially sex and chichi wanting to marry him - is a good running bit imo

I kinda wish Bulma was around more. I liked her in the first saga, but she wasnt around much for the tournament saga, and not at all around for the Silver/White saga. I like that shes back to dragon ball hunting this time around, and I hope she sticks around more permanently.

As you've probably guessed, Dragon Ball is a real adventure kind of feel. The episodes you saw and expected out of DBZ are pretty much what you get in that series.

Some would say it changed for the better, some would say for the worse.

A lot of people forget that the original Dragon Ball was largely a comedy.

I just started DB as well. I'm on season 3 now. I also just picked up the 4 movie pack.

I had the exact same thought about guns in the show. Pointless if they don't ever mean anything. Overall though I am enjoying it so far
