Eager to see how this breaks down, given the quality of each game (though, personally, I hated MGS4).

3 > 2 > Twin Snakes > 5 > 4

Im in the middle of playing the series. Prefer 1 to 2, but theyre close and I really like Raiden.

I love 4's high points and story but it mostly isn't very fun.

5 is a ton of fun mechanically and I sank a lot of hours into it but there's a ton missing from the game. It's just not a complete package. I wish we got to see more from the FOX Engine and that world other than Survive. It's a total waste.

I remember being so excited for 4 and I stayed up to play it at midnight and around 3 AM I hit that cutscene where Meryl dumps exposition on Old Snake and I just fell asleep. Also the install times kill the pacing. And the fact that after Chapter 2 it stops being like... a real game (with some exceptions)

3 is IMO the best game ever made. 5 is mechanically even better than that but the game is utterly unfinished and gives you basically nothing meaningful to use those mechanics on.

Agree with everything you said. I bought a PS3 the day MGS4 came out and was totally bummed after Chapter 2. The online kinda saved it, but it still was IMO the most disappointing game ever made.

5 was the most fun for the longest, but as far as the overall game goes, it had a lot wrong with it. If they could fine tune the base building, animal collecting, resource management, take keifer out (behind the woodshed and shoot him), give us real Ocelot and not the world's most boring man hypnotized into thinking he's Ocelot it wouldn't just be top of the list, it would be the greatest game of all time. Peace Walker is basically 5 but refined down to perfection.
