I usually just get a lot of leg work done, like jogging/standing/walking or whatever

Then I throw some podcast or album on my phone with some headphones

I have one of those holdy-thingy's you put on the vent so I don't think it counts as distracted driving :P

Before going on long road trips, I check tire pressure, oil level, fill up my tank, clean my windshields, and make sure my spare tire and jack are packed.

I also use the bathroom, fill bottle of water, and eat something with lots of protein and carbs so my energy level is high. Also make sure I have some spare cash so I dont have to use my credit card at some sketchy gas station in the middle of BumFuck, USA. Also charged phone.

How long is long? After two hours of sitting, my back starts to kill me so I make sure I can park somewhere and walk around.

Other than that, the usual car maintenance, bring some snacks and drinks, but also very important: have some good music on hand

for realz, like an hour or two is no biggie, when you get into the 4+ hour range is when it gets long.

I was looking at the 3-4 hour range. I'm thinking about sight seeing in Virginia and it's about that distance away :(

I haven't been on a long drive for years. Got one in about 6 months though for a wedding, I'll likely just take my Switch or 3DS along for the trip.

Glad you mentioned the spare tire. I know my spare and jack are always packed but I should be mindful to check the air on the spare as well.

The open road is unpredictable. Might not need the spare and jack, but youd be fucked without it and service for a tow. Tire pressure is always good to know regardless of trip length.

Depends on the length. For a couple hours, probably just car stuff, use the bathroom, and maybe something to eat and drink.

When I went for a 24-hour drive, I did all my fluids, gas, got food and drinks, downloaded some podcast to make sure I could listen even in places with shitty service, and stuff. But I also let my mom take the first part of driving since I just finished and 8-hour work day...

For 4 hours, just make sure youre car is good with emergency stuff, snacks, drinks, and something to listen to (music, podcast, audio books, etc.).

The best thing for long trips is having a satellite radio. I love listening to Radio Classics on a long drive. You listen to a few good shows and the next thing you know you've traveled a couple hundred miles.

I do two 12 hour drives ever couple of months (once leaving once returning). I do a 6-8 hour playlist of music Ive been meaning to listen to, and fill the rest of the time with podcasts.
