This is one of the coolest RTS games, it's a little bit Empire Earth/Age of Empires and a little bit Civilization. While not the most impressive graphically, I think it still visually holds up because of how the units and everything are rendered, almost like they were handpainted. Act of War: Direct Action is 1.19 (requires an extra unofficial patch to get running on newer systems unfortunately). Act of Aggression is 7.49. These both play like older C&C games (Act of War Direct Action came out around the time Generals did I believe, or maybe shortly thereafter). Each game of the Wargame series is hovering around $10. These are more tactical/operational RTS games that emulate hundreds of real life units and vehicles and their real capabilities. You have to manage their fuel and munitions, it's pretty hard imo just because it's not like a generic basebuilding experience. Battlezone 98 Redux is $5. It's a remastered version of ... Battlezone 98. The story is that the Cold War has extended into space and you fight for the Americans (or the Soviets) through many missions across different planets. You are a pilot and you control the action from a first person view. You can seize resource control points and produce turrets and AI collectors and other vehicles to assist you. It gets a little monotonous but it's also kind of fun because of how you can complete some missions. There was one where I was on a time crunch and I would up just bailing out of my tank and running on foot to the enemy base and stealing one of their tanks to destroy what I needed to. It got really hairy >_> Homeworld Remastered (includes games 1 and 2) is $7, Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak (the sequel prequel) is $10. Natural Selection 2 is $4, it's a multiplayer, hybrid FPS/RTS that pits aliens versus marines. Each team gets a commander who manages pooled resources, drops ammo/health kits and issues orders to the other players. Everyone else plays in a first person view and tries to shoot/eat the other team while building support structures and whatnot. Grey Goo is $4.79, that's supposed to be a pretty good title but I haven't played it personally :\ If you want a rinky dink arcadey RTS made by the developers of the original C&C games (and it even uses a similar interface), there's 8-Bit Armies. I like one of the features where each mission has three stars to unlock (for better performance) and each star gives you some sort of a perk like extra starting cash or a free starter building or free starter units. So you play through a few missions then replay some, get a better score and get better boosts. It's a fun game for like 10 hours but I really dislike the way the farm is expanded and exploring new areas is obnoxious because you have to run all the way to them on foot every single time you go.
