This chapter is immediately setting us up with more romance subplot scenes, with Shannon and Kanon rehashing the same argument for the millionth time, about love and being furniture.

I can't stand it, but mostly I wonder why. What ground is there to cover with this plot...?

Shannon is being incredibly forceful with Kanon this time though.

Because...

Battler has realized that she's the mastermind, and he's therefore writing her to be really bold this time! Because he's a newer writer and he's not being subtle about it!

Battler, as a newer writer, doesn't realize you can't just have your characters monologue about their feelings... It's suddenly so easy for Kanon to openly talk about all his feelings lol

the whole shannon/kanon scene is just

so different than how they usually are

shannon is way more forceful

and they both talk about things in such a dramatic and yet straightforward way

it really is like its being written by a new writer who cant do subtlety and doesn't understand how to write characters.

kanon takes 2 minutes of convincing to finally declare his love and say he's not furniture.

shannon declares she will go with george even if it tramples over kanon's heart

its weird stuff

can we stop using the word "dazzling" please

i was wondering why kumasawa and genji were in the magic world

i guess its because we're sticking with the idea that kumasawa = virgilia and genji probably = ronove

in fact wait a minute, why does featherine see ange as just a mere human anyway. didn't ange become ANGE Beatrice? lol

so even though ange and featherine were here to witness "the game", they were also watching gamemaster battler in his magic universe talking to beato, so they were witnessing that as well, but now they're interacting with beato directly

sure, this all makes sense.

i can't even solve the cheese-cutting puzzle

in fact even as they explain how to do it in 3 i have no clue what they're saying

in that case i got the correct 1 answer but had no clue what they were saying with the 3 answer because i was still thinking of only a slice of cheese haha

also i don't get it

last game, erika was a "piece" of bern

this game, she's... sort of still that

but how does battler create the game as gamemaster, if it then gets to be interfered with by erika? who he can't control?

i guess lambda was gamemaster last time and couldn't control erika either huh

but man, its hard to create a gameboard as is without having to deal with that. no wonder battle finds it hard

As Beatrice as game master for 1-4 could not control Battler, so he can't control Erika. The player can interfere with the game, but a good GM should be able to carry out their designs despite that interference. Though Erika is way more likely to take drastic measures to sabotage the game.

kinzo does claim that he knew someone names beatrice who gave him gold when he was younger, right?

so even if beatrice was somehow "created" based on some sin battler commited 6 years ago

beatrice still "existed" before that? she was a human that kinzo kept in a hidden mansion? and/or... well, either way, this person that kinzo claims gave him gold many years ago, and made a portrait of... must exist in some way

so why was the "witch" created by battler's sin 6 years ago the same as the person kinzo was obsessed with?

but i was just talking about why every useless side character comes as a pair of sisters. stakes. chiester. weird marriage demon girls.

could it be that there's always been beatrice sisters all along? it sure would make sense

i remember in episode 4, there was the uniform beatrice, and dress beatrice. i don't remember if either of them was a "piece", or both. i think the dress beatrice made the uniform beatrice go away when she was disappointed with battler's answer.

episode 2 had only uniform beatrice of course.

feel free to remind me general details of when uniform beatrice appeared, since i've just forgotten them.

but anyway

i'm not ruling out time loop shenanigans

new-beatrice just went 2 years back in time through the portrait apparently to meet the old beatrice. or, something like that.

what if this new-beatrice does live a thousand years and becomes our old beato? it's possible, but idk if this game will go that route.

when new-beatrice travels around with 2-years-ago-uniform-beatrice, it says they become 2 butterflies.

sometimes we've only seen 1 butterfly.

does that mean, when we a swarm of butterflies, there are that many beatrices? :o

i'm meant to believe this beatrice is a big witch who granted kinzo mountains of gold and will become the endless witch, but all she does is hide in a mansion and unlock windows as a way of getting people to believe she exists so that their magic-resisting toxin goes down?

i mean just thinking about it on a surface level, there's a lot more you could do to create rumours than just open locks on windows. you could very clearly move things around. you could not just unlock the window, but open it. you could... i mean, god, i don't even know, there's way more you could do!

even this "older sister", who is meant to be the "other half" of beatrice, the harsher one, is basically just a child still

oh ok, i guess they did open the window rather than just unlock it. my bad.

oh, okay, it says she really did once enter the kitchen and stack all the objects in a pile and leave scribbles

yeah, that's more effective. lol.

but if you can scribble, you could write legible notes, couldn't you...?

i like how maria gets an angry face that looks like rosa's

meanwhile erika is fighting maria over the claim of a magical candy spell

i mean, i won't lie, it's nice to have someone actually ask maria for details about how she met beatrice

which, well, beatrice doesn't exist, so those have always just been her imagination

and now poor dlanor has gotten herself involved and has to get into a duel with maria over whether or not beatrice really made candy appear

this game, lol

this is the intellectual version of beating up a child

i have to admit erika's over the top horribleness is a little bit amusing in this scenario

i like how the inquisitor sisters only purpose was to keep saying "this is stupid btw" in that scene

No, but Piece-Battler was Meta Battler's piece. That's why his perspective is reliable, as was confirmed in EP5.

That scene was actually great aside from the fact that it was literally (intellectually/emotionally) beating up a nine year old.

true, his perspective was reliable i guess, but meta-battler couldn't control him i don't think. i could be wrong though.

lmao, ange complains to featherine that we have to watch this george/shannon proposal scene for the 6th time

but are we watching this scene because featherine chose to?

or because the game master is showing it?

i thought it was the latter.

maybe it works differently when we have this "observer" role

so let me get this straight, george is talking about how he used to be an arrogant, elitist, boring, condescending prick who thought he was better than everyone else?

well then what the hell does that make him now

i repeat, shannon has to be evil, because no one could love george, and therefore she must be faking it

god i'm dying to see shannon reveal that she's evil and start tearing into george at some point "you think anyone would ever love you? you think you've changed? you're still a boring prick. you're the furniture, because you're about as bland as a nightstand"

"I swear to stand against all fates that get in the way of our future, George-san." says Shannon

the wording of that is pretty ominous. what fates? possibly referring to all the alternate universes and stuff

the way both ange and erika are complaining about having to watch the proposal scene because it's "useless" just reinforces my belief that this chapter will reveal shannon as evil

everything is lining up for the shannon villain reveal

uniform-beatrice is reminding us about how she had shannon go to the shrine and break the seal

i said this last topic, but there's something weird about that

magic doesn't exist, and all scenes with "magic" are just alternate versions of something else that happened. i.e. natsuhi has tea with beatrice? no, she's just having tea alone.

shannon took a boat to a small nearby cave with a shrine. she didn't destroy a magic mirror to release a spirit, because that's not real. but she really did travel there. why?

the elder-sister-Beatrice seems to barely know who she is either

when asked, she just says "I'm the witch Beatrice, I gave Kinzo gold and now I haunt this island"

she is just a personification of a myth

well, we already knew that, basically.
