Why would this be a red flag but not someone saying "black people" or "black community"? Similar question to TC. They all mean the same thing.

None of these phrases convey any ill will or malice.

Black people is how youre supposed to say it. Ive never seen someone say the blacks who didnt say something else which revealed a negative bias against black people.

This is kind of like the question, "Is 'colored people' more offensive than 'people of color?'"

I think people use African Americans if they want to say plural for black. I think Asians/Latinos isn't racist as plural to Asian/Latino but I guess black is the only race some think of.

Plural for black is black people.

Id find it a tad jarring but it wouldnt make me judge them unless it were accompanied by something hateful.

Wouldn't that depend on the rest of the statement? If someone says, "Black people tend to vote for Democrats.", no one would bat an eye or accuse that person of being racist. So why would saying "The blacks tend to vote for Democrats." make that person seem biased? It's an odd phrasing, but that doesn't imply bigotry.

Id argue it does imply it, but it doesnt necessitate it.

It's a little weird, yes. Often it's a sign of some fuckshit to come. Like everything they know they learned from talk radio. Terms that center personhood (gay people/trans people/queer people/etc.) come across a lot more self-aware and trustworthy to me.

I thought it was Hebrews, not just the Jews.

Like they are used interchangeably now but I think I remember someone explaining to me it was like "All X's are Y's but not all Y's are X's" with Y's being Hebrews.
