We're playing Lvl 20 Zero and Maya. Sanctuary just lifted. Should we just continue the story or farm some shit? I feel like my weapons are trash but the game isn't very up front about where to farm stuff. (Or maybe I'm dumb)

You won't need to worry about rare weapons that early.

Once you replay in True/Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, getting Legendaries are a bigger deal.

But for now just check around for chests as you progress in the story.

At E3 they just dropped a new DLC chapter for Borderlands 2 that Bridges the story between two and three. Stick with this game for now in case you're interested in connecting the plot.

I've never actually farmed in BL2. Always made due with doing all sidequests before moving on with the plot.
Little tip: Since you're Lvl 20, try the seasonal Headhunter DLCs. They're all at your level and drop some insanely powerful weapons. I didn't need to switch unti Lvl 30.
Also use the Shift codes to get Golden Keys for that chest in Sanctuary, always grants purple gear

Tackling 80%+ of the side quests is the way to play on normal IMO. I feel like the level curve feels right that way, plus you can get some cool weapons from quest rewards.

Like ZMythos said, don't worry about legendary weapons. Hell, green level weapons can still be used to progress through the game without many problems.

Cool we got some keys and we have some decent weapons now. We're gonna run through all the side quests then continue with the main mission. Thanks for the reassurance on not farming lol
