I'm flabbergasted to this day by how that game was made in 1991....how amazingly fun it is and how it's stood the test of time. Mario 1 and Zelda 1 are amazing games, and Mario 3 and LttP are definitely masterpieces. I guess it comes down to the controls and level design in Mario games vs the presentation and dungeon design in Zelda, and I guess I still consider Mario 3 the bigger improvement.
