Why does every match in this game include a god damn quitter or a coward or just a complete piece of shit who thinks it's funny to play for the other team?

I've never encountered such a whack-ass player base in my life. It's unreal. These people are out there breathing MY air! People made of fear and dirt and little shriveled weak souls! If only I could throttle the pathetic life out of each of them.

Just play ranked if you don't want people leaving.

90% of my time playing Rocket League was spent in solo ranked so that I didn't have to deal with team mates like this.

Don't suck and carry your teammate obv

Kidding, of course. People suck. But yeah, ranked has not as bad a problem with leaving since leaving prematurely there comes with a penalty.

Ive played for years now and have over 2000 hours in Ranked 3v3 and there are issues at every level (Currebtly Diamond III Rank III) - Steam player

Yes, the higher ranked you go people never quit but you could have someone misscalculate an aerial 5 seconds into the game and teammates already hit forfeit.

The higher ranks people just talk trash 24/7 but I mean that's just funny to me I mean when a teammate misses an easy save you have to spam "What A Save!" Its only right.

My suggestion is:

- ONLY play competitive/ ranked
- disable chat

That's your best bet.

Most people who play rocket league are kids or high/drunk people who just got home from something and wants to just goof off.

I've played 800 hours of Rocket League and have only had people intentionally screw up/play for the other team every... 50 hours or so. It's such a friendly community compared to other online games I've done, like Dota.

That being said people do leave all the time after making one mistake (in Unranked), but it doesn't wreck the game since they're quickly replaced.

Ya people do tend to play for the other team when they feel like their own team sucks but it's out of spite. I've been on either side of lots of matches where everyone played well but someone has to lose it's all good but instead of forfeiting someone purposely wont and drags a 5 minute game into a 15 minute spite fest. Purposely slowing the game down in every way, scoring on their own net, never skipping replays. Everyone suffers and no one can leave since there is a penalty.

In unranked the bots that replace people periodically are actually much better to play with >_>

The community is friendly since everyone will report you for absolutely anything crude or rude. Thats why sticking to the passive aggressive quick chat options is the best anyways. It also seems to get under peoples skin quite well when they are already tilted

Ya the notification basically says "thanks for telling us someone said a mean word and action has been taken against them" along with a picture of a high five. From what I've read all it does is temporarily restrict their chat options so its pointless

I never play ranked, but I have hardly experienced issues with my 50 or so hours spent playing this. I am disappointed when people bail when they fall behind, but as someone pointed out, they are quickly replaced, and if it is a bot, the AI is very capable.

I have never seen someone that I felt intentionally threw the game. On occasion, I see someone commit an own goal (I have been guilty more than once), but the replay always suggests it was an accident or they were trying to make a save/defensive play but deflected off of them.

I have also never, and I mean never, played with anyone vocally obnoxious in this game. I echo Ngamer's thoughts that this has been a very friendly community in my experience.

No one has a reason to throw the game in unranked when there is no punishment for leaving. People just dip. People only throw games in ranked since it's out of spite to "punish" their teammates who they feel messed up and now cant leave and have to sit through it.

Also you might not be able to tell if people were trying to throw games in unranked anyways it's kinda a peewee soccer fest where no one plays positions they just ball chase and flail around lol

I still very rarely see this happen to the point i can't even remember that last time it has on my team. Usually I'll see it happen on the other team because someone will make a bad play, one of their teammates bash them in chat and then comes the griefing.

I haven't played in about a year, but the bots being capable is only true at the beginner level of play. You're at a serious handicap if you're playing with a bot otherwise. Playing unranked in a standard match then becomes about playing defensively/conservatively until a player hopefully joins midmatch to replace the bot. If you're playing 1v3 humans, then you're screwed unless the other team sucks.

I'm saying this as someone who used to play a lot of Rocket League, but I definitely saw a lot of instances of people in unranked throwing a fit and deciding to play for the other team. But again, I played a lot of Rocket League, so %-wise, it probably was a pretty low amount, and the many instances I saw it happen just stick out to me.

There are a lot of players who are absolutely terrible that will trash-talk their teammates in chat becase they're either completely incompetent and don't understand the game and what they're talking about, or they immediately whine any time their teammate makes one mistake while being completely oblivious to the dozen or more mistakes they've made in the current match.

In my experience, while they very likely will just outright leave, there was always a chance said people would then start playing for the other team.
