Idk how to describe it but theres just a certain feel to the gameplay I expect from a Genesis title and this game is exactly that in the best way possible.

The graphics are so detailed and gory, details like zombies being cut in half by your whip are just so cool. And power ups like shooting a kamehameha, and disintegrating into a rainbow when you die, and how the jewels bounce out of the candles. Theres a lot of random details like that.

And the play speed is like slightly higher than regular castlevania, but not too much. It make you feel like youre playing Super Castlevania 4 Turbo though the character looks like hes doing some convulsive Commander Sheperd Dance when he walks on the stairs.

Lmao Im so glad I didnt drop 40 or whatever to get a Genesis cartridge but tbh it would have been worth it if I did. Loving this Castlevania collection on Steam

Overall Id rate it 0/10 no moonwalk preorder cancelled

I've been playing Rondo of Blood. It's pretty fun but the fourth stage is kind of tough.

Is that the TurboGrafx version? I played it on the Wii and it kicked my butt. I loved it though. I think you can find alternate routes if certain stages are too difficult

I haven't gotten too deep into Bloodlines yet, but what I've played I enjoyed. I've mostly been playing Simon's Quest. I had forgotten how much I enjoy that game

Got to the tower level. Its pissing me off but wow, theyre flexing that genesis hardware fierce. Gosh Im mad I missed this as a kid, I would have lost my shit playing this.

The flipping Minotaur ripped off the column to use as a weapon! And whipping that statue to make a platform!

I got to the bit with the floating platforms and the gargoyle skeletons and Im done for today lol

I was going to let this topic die but I didn't expect to beat the game this quickly.

So the late game bosses do this thing where if you die, you only get one whip upgrade for the subsequent rematches, which is horribly, unnecessarily punishing since you already lose all your hearts and your (probably) ideal sub-weapon. >___>

The last level has some absolutely annoying gimmicks like splitting the room into alternating "background" and "foreground" strips that make it a pain to see where the medusa heads are, or how large a bottomless pit is before you jump, followed by a segment you have to play upside down.

Most of the final bosses were surprisingly easy once you figured them out. Only Dracula's final form required intensive control skill to beat. (Of course, I abused the crap out of save states to learn their patterns without starting the game over so........ >___________>)

Overall this game was incredible. I'll probably replay it again soon with the spear guy but I want to do Caslevania 3 first, which is the only one of the "classic" series I havent played before this collection. (Not counting the gameboy ones but...apparently those suck)

Also this game's Elizabeth Bartley is crazy hot lol.

I love that level EXCEPT for that ridiculous insta-kill painting enemy. I almost always get a game over at least once on that stage when I play through it.

But gosh Rondos entire OST is fire. Wish that would have been included on the anniversary collection but alas

I love Bloodlines. I remember getting stuck repeatedly on the Germany level as a kid. But I loved the Pisa level. Spooky. I remember when I first got to that level it scared me so I turned the game off lol.
