Shouldn't it pull a reverse game of thrones and call the series Time of Contempt or whatever?

Unfortunate if true, but it's attributed to "Anonymous" and very anecdotal.

That is some ugly fucking armor, though.

The more I look at that image the more it looks like a stunt actor wearing something for a brief scene where a soldier is on fire or something rather than something thats part of the regular production, especially since the other actors on the set dont appear to be wearing anything similar

I'd be more shocked if I actually saw you type something positive about something.
Still this looks great and seems to be true to the books it's based on as far as I know. I can't say I've decided to read the books but do know bits. As with many folk my only knowledge comes from Witcher 3 really. The Yennefer casting seems a bit off here though. However again all I can think of is Yennefer in Witcher 3. Let's hope they include a stuffed Unicorn.

That's what I thought too when my friend linked me some screenshots of them showing it off months ago. But it doesn't seem to be the case at all.

Honestly I knew the show was gonna get "Feminism-ised" when I figured out the people writing it. I mean just look at the one persons twitter.

It looks... eh

I feel like studios learned all the wrong lessons from game of thrones. They seem to think Gritty Epic Fantasy was what attracted people to the show, and not the great dramatic elements and excellent acting.

Im gonna be underwhelmed but I guess book fans might like it or something *shrug*

The books are gritty though, and most of what was shown(event wise) was quite accurate to them which is what they're going for.

Well from what I hear this is far more based on the novels than the video games. Those excepting Witcher 3 but as a TV show will be a bit disappointed.

According to a couple articles Ive read it seems like theyre trying to do a bit of both

Given the popularity of the games in the West I think itd be silly not to take any inspiration at all from them in the production

Yeah it seems they for sure took Geralts appearance out of the games, and that's for the best the older illustrations of him look hideous. I wish they took appearances of other characters from the games more but w/e. There's no doubt this series exists because of the games too.

https://www.thewrap.com/the-witcher-showrunner-says-netflix-series-will-never-adapt-the-video-games/?

Netflixs The Witcher is best known in the U.S. for the series of role playing video games by CD Projekt Red rather than the fantasy novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski that inspired the games. But if the show ever moves past the story laid out in the books like Game of Thrones did, Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich says fans should definitely not expect it to mine the games for material.

Extreme long vision is no, we will not start adapting the games, Hissrich told TheWrap during a press round table at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. I can only attack one season at a time, Im so excited for this one, the rest kind of makes my mind explode right now. If someone says what happens in Season 7, sure I have thoughts. Fingers crossed, we get there.

The games, in case youre not familiar, are a trilogy of stories that serves as a sequel to the books, picking up where they end and continuing the story of Geralt of Rivia, a famed monster hunter who keeps getting caught up in lots of major world events. So Hissrich is saying that regardless of whether The Witcher ever makes it past the stories told in the books, they wont use the games as source material for further stories.

So now you know.

The show stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan, along with Jodhi May (Game of Thrones, Genius) as Calanthe, Bjrn Hlynur Haraldsson (Fortitude) as Eist, Adam Levy (Knightfall, Snatch) as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street, Kill List) as Tissaia, Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read (Profile) as Sabrina, Emma Appleton (The End of The F**king World) as Renfri, Eamon Farren (The ABC Murders, Twin Peaks) as Cahir, Joey Batey (Knightfall, Strike) as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards, Sherlock) as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson (Wanderlust, Judy) as Istredd, Maciej Musia (1983) as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Jamillah & Aladdin, Dickensian) as Dara, and Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter) as Triss.

It premieres on Netflix later this year.

I was disappointed when I didn't see winged helms, but this is some hilarious stuff

I've read all the books except season of storms which I own but haven't gotten into, so I'm hoping it does the good parts justice while keeping the boring parts at least a bit less boring but not cutting them out. The books are very skewed with some great chapters and some booooring chapters, so we shall see.

I can't wait to see a casting for Bonhart, Vilgefortz, or Stefan Stellan if gets that far before it's canned or just forgotten about.
