Man, was I completely off the mark there. For about the first four hours, it does play as if it was the above, but then the game takes a dramatic genre shift. It's similar to what happens in Hatoful Boyfriend, which also got a similar rating from me over at vndb. Really enjoyed getting all of the endings and uncovering different parts of the storyline, even if some of the bad endings got very disturbing extremely fast, depending on basically what amounts to a single choice in the end. ~~Main plot twist was very FFVIII in its execution.~~ There's one route that does not have any connection to the others though and is understandably weaker, but overall the game surprised me and I'm interested to see if the other game in the series is similar. Along with this game, I've started a number of new games this month, and plan to start a few more. Some of them are definitely going to be pushed to the platinum soon afterwards, including Suda51's The Silver Case and a great musou-like in Fate/Extella Link.
