As a black guy, I agree. It was a comedy sketch, it wasnt coming from a place of hatred or ignorance. Its really amazing how sensitive the world is these days, its like people are on the lookout for things to be pissed off or offended about, I swear.

Iirc on one episode of her show (not sure if same one as this), she had actual literal God as a character and he was black.

The idea that black face cannot be portrayed on TV in any capacity is silly. It needs to be done carefully and it always needs to be portrayed negatively. If used in comedy the punchline can't simply be that a character is in blackface but how terrible or unaware the character using blackface is.

For instance in Always Sunny, when Mac put on blackface, the joke isn't that Mac is wearing blackface but that the Gang are such incredibly horrible, unaware people that they would even do it.

Yeah I don't know why that was yikes'd. Trump people love to talk shit about Kimmel for the Karl Malone skit but that was literally not blackface. This is. I don't even condemn her for it given the context of the skit, but that's actual blackface.

That episode was fucking hilarious. The punchline was her black friend went around acting like a Jewish caricature in the same way she did with the blackface.

The punchline was she was treated like shit because everyone thought she was a super racist walking around in blackface, and her character was so ignorant of why blackface is offensive she misinterpreted it as racism. In the end though, they still ironically learn a valuable lesson about empathy despite their obvious misinterpretation of their experiences.

It should be noted that Sarah is played as the foil the entire episode and the consensus of nearly everyone is that Sarah shouldn't do this because it's extremely offensive and insensitive. The moral byline of the episode is quite literally, "Blackface is really, really bad and you'd have to be an idiot, like Sarah Silverman's character, not to realize it."

Of course, the actual context doesn't matter because even the use of something racist to prove racism is bad is, itself, racist in today's society.

It was a great episode.
