Heh. I flipped through the instruction manual the other day and was caught off-guard by Link's apparent bare ass.

Now everytime he holds a treasure over his head with his legs spread you can now vision some low hanging fruit.

My favorite is hitler's face exploding and his eye popping out in Bionic Commando. It leads me to believe Nintendo's Quality Assurance couldn't be bothered to beat such a difficult game, or they just did a parser search for any religious or potentially violent words like "blood" :)

I remember that. Nothing wrong with it either. If it were a female character people would complain its not short enough.

I find it interesting Nintendo made Square change "its red, just like the color of our blood" to "its red, just like the color of rupees" in FF2, as well as changing everything "holy" to "white" weapons and items. But instruction books seem to be an exception, as the screenshot with the blood text and holy were still in the US rulebook.

So Nintendo probably was fine with a pale cheeky Link in their instructions :)

to be fair, Link's age in ALttP is kind of ambiguous
in-game, the squat top-down sprites make him look like a little kid, but the artwork shows him as more of a teenager (although still clearly quite young and definitely not legal age, maybe 15/16 at best)

come to think of it, even "adult" Link in OoT is only 17 at most, also not legal age

Didn't they remove any references to him actually being Hitler in the American Version? And difficult? Bionic Commander was one of the few NES games I actually managed to beat.

Link is definitely a teen in the instruction manual. His proportions and face are definitely that of someone older than a child. Some of the shots make him look like an adult.

How old was Link in ALTTP?

It's probably a Ghost Lion scenario where the in-game character is a lot younger than the character in the artwork.
