Just made it to Chapter 9 of BE Maddening myself. Yeah, blah blah NG+ cheating, but if I didnt have stuff like Immortal Corps, Almyra Mercenaries, and King of Lions Company, I would never have made it past Chapter 5. That level had all the enemies charge me in a great big column after harassing Miklans archer bodyguards, and itd probably be impossible to fight against without a good couple uses of Assault Troop. Man do I love the Batallion mechanic.

Yeah I would not enjoy maddening.

I found chapter 13 in hard pretty hard. Everyone except Felix was being doubled. (Ingrid is not being used, so she just got the chests)

Dimitri's passive is pretty good. Sylvain also got a few lucky dodges. (yes, Sylvain is my dodge tank. So is Dancer Felix.)

Next chapter back to the A team.

Ah, that map. I just had the entire team bolt for the boss, and used a bunch of Gambits to halt the thief reinforcements in their tracks. Then I carefully tiptoed through the rest of the map to avoid getting ambushed by reinforcements I might not know about. Turned out there was only one bunch of enemies like that - an Assassin and two Thieves that spawn from the northeast corner once you get near the eastern treasure chest. The rest were stuff from the previous difficulties.

Sword avoid +20, A+ in swords, Gautier Knights = Felix that cant be touched.

Yea that build is generally pretty good. It's a bit better on Ferdinand or Dimitri but yea. Felix can make pretty much anything work by virtue of being Felix.

The biggest problem is that you waste Felix by making him a dancer. Or you waste your dancer by making them a combat unit.

My run, I managed to only give one stat boost to the Deer. Raphael and Lysithea went a bit rogue, but then they got shut down by Annette and Dimitri.

Finished Blue Lions hard mode.

Second last chapter seemed harder than last chapter. Only bad thing I did in last chapter is Sylvain would have died but he dodged like a bro.

Unit rankings:
Byleth- Holy Knight is awful, turned back to Enlightened one. Still was stat screwed
Felix- Tanked everything. Doubled most things.
Sylvain- Got so many crits at random. Dodged when he absolutely needed too. Is better as Wyvern but I liked the Dark Knight build. Better than Byleth's Holy Knight version
Dimitri- Is Dimitri.
Bernie- Went from bench to MVP of final battle. That range and her passive is great.
Petra- Smashed things. (literally used Smash a lot) Dodge tank.
Cyril- Weaker Petra
Mercedes- Healer bot 1
Flayn- Healer bot 2
Lorenz- Did more magic damage than Sylvain but he just was weaker everywhere else. Don't hybrid him. Go full mage. Usually Lysithea's pair up bot.
Ignatz- Damage suffered near the end but he did okay.
Caspar- Bench. Bernie's pair up bot.
Lysithea- Death Knight Killer (TM)

I was only able to recruit two people from other houses: Lysethia and Sylvain. Both were really useful, though. Petra and Bernadetta were the most useful. But I imagine it's probably different on higher difficulties. Dorthea was also invaluable.

Started the Blue Lions route now, and I'm not liking most of the class. But it's still really early.

I was only able to recruit Lysithea because I focused on her and gave her a lot of Owl Feathers. I didn't bother with most of the other people, tho I really wanted to recruit Leonie. But I waited too long.

In my current playthrough, Petra, Dorthea and Bernadetta have already joined me. But I'm not using them right now so the Blue Lions have a chance to level up.

Does anyone know if skill levels transfer between games? Like if I get Petra's Sword to S on Playthrough #1, but then only get her to A on playthrough #2, can I still use renown to get her to S on Playthrough #3? Or only A?

yes, Why else do you think my Sylvain can buy S in spears, A in Axe, A+ in reason, B in faith, A+ in riding and A+ in flying? Those were not all in the same playthrough. (yes, I made a mage Sylvain to end up as Dark Knight. Black magic Avoid +20%)

Petra is still really damn useful on higher difficulties, because wyvern is the best class and she gets talent in both its main skill reqs, and her speed is crazy. I didn't used to think that highly of Bernadetta but I put her on a pegasus this run and she's been way more useful because it's much easier to hang out at low HP for Persecution Complex/Vengeance nonsense when you have mobility.

I like most of the Lions characters a lot but that's because I enjoy the way they're twisted by toxic Faerghus culture.

We're still around (if we ever stopped being around entirely, I'd have to change my 15-year-old GameFAQs sig!), though the boards are mostly dead these days and the actual tournament is long gone.

I really should have just skipped it, there are more Blue lions characters I actively dislike then ones I like

I wanted to make Sylvain a Dark Knight on my first playthrough, but he couldn't get enough reason. I made Ferdinand one tho.

I liked Bernadetta as a Bow Knight. She was able to one hit most things, and the only time she was in danger was when Hubert went after her. Then again she was probably my highest leveled character so that might have something to do with it. I always let her get some hits on stationary enemies early on, since they couldn't hit back.

I like Bernie as a bow knight too. She was my MVP final battle of AM hard mode. ^_^
