By trashy I mean the cheaper or not premium ingredients versions of the dish?

The only thing that sticks out for me is frito pie. I prefer homemade chili for chili dogs. But for frito pie I only like it with can chili and I dont know why.

Frozen Pizza the best is Tonys which is like 2.50 or so. I like it better than the 6 dollar pizzas.

But that is the only example of a cheaper product being better than a more expensive product I can recall from the top of my head.

Best chili for frito pie imo is the canned steak and shake chili, havent found one I like better for it

Also I love mexican food, but Id often rather have a big burrito or carne asada fries from some 24 hour dive like Filibertos or Federicos or whatever it happens to be named than some actual authentic mexican food from a nicer place

Yeah speaking of Mexican food, with the exception of fajitas, I almost always prefer enchiladas from cheaper places.

My SO used to drink prodigious amounts of iced tea, so when I saw "National Cup" at Walmart with 100 tea bags for $1, I bought some. And it's freaking fantastic for iced tea! Better than Tetley, Lipton or PG Tips.

Ham

I had to look up what exactly is in Spam -- I remember having a single can in a cupboard for my entire childhood that never got eaten, and I've never actually eaten any. While it does contain ham, it seems to me to be more comparable to bologna or hot dogs.

If you thinly slice it and fry it, it makes a pretty good sandwich. Also, there are MANY dishes with it in Hawaiian cuisine.

Would you say it's like bologna? Because I've heard the same about bologna regarding frying it. I'm not a fan of bologna.

Not really, I hate fried bologna, but I like fried spam with cheese and mayo on a sandwich. Also, it is good in hunks, fried with pineapple, soy sauce and white short grain rice.

Are you agreeing with hypnox or JOExHIGASHI? If JOE, would you consider a pork chop a substitute for ham? After all, they're both pork.

I use to like onion rings until that happened once. I bit into it, and the rest of the onion ust slipped on the ring and the whole thing was in my mouth. it was gross...

You gotta try Popeyes onion rings sometime. Theyre not gigantic but theyre bigger than BKs. The reason theyre good is because they are fried in the same batter as their chicken. You dont know the difference that makes until you take the first bite. Also its not the type where you take the whole onion out in one bite.

I think you will enjoy them.

You will most likely have to wait for them to cook because no one buys them, but damn they are good.

I guess mayo almost. It just depends on your definition of premium. Cause the best is Duke's if you can get it, or Best Food's/Hellman's, and they're both pretty affordable and have average prices.
Otherwise, I do enjoy a hot dog or bologna, but not really in place of anything though. Like, I enjoy cheap foods along side fancy foods. Personally, I like my pasta a bit more tender than most, so I really like chef boyardee and foods similar to it.

Does Spam stand for spiced ham? That's what I was taught afaik. That stuff fries up so well, but I like it most way, especially in scrambled eggs.

Theyre just criminally underrated. Most people are not even aware Popeyes serves them as a side.

A lot of locations actually discontinued them. I discovered this once my post made me curious about the internets opinion and I googled the shit. That shit was news to me.

I just know that in the Baltimore area every single Popeyes still serves them. You just have to wait five minutes.
