This has nothing to do with gun control, and everything to do with Colt struggling as a company. They have been coasting on there name for a long time.

Most of there 1911s are mid tier offerings that are over priced. For half the price you can get a lesser quality, but acceptable 1911. For the same price range as the Colt you can get a better gun from other manufacturers. They no longer produce anything competitive in the high end or super high end area.

There ARs have been in the same boat for awhile. They can't make a decent rifle to compete with S&W or Ruger entry level rifles. Colts price to quality/feature ratio just isn't there.

The current crop of gun buyers didn't grow up with colt being one of the only games in town for ARs, 1911s, and still making nice wheel guns. There coasting days are over.

when i say "combat rifle" i dont mean something "meant to kill as many people as possible" im referring to how the barrel and parts are made. how the bolt carrier group is tested to withstand a high number of rounds (tens of thousands) and be reliable in dirt and sand, how the barrel is chrome lined to withstand corrosion of different environments, how the hand-guards are designed to control heat ect. a lot of the more really really cheap AR's dont have these kinds of things or they skimp out further on them. I guess a better term could to be "bomb proof", built to withstand more or hold up better ect., like colt ARs and ones that tend to be into the $1000+ range.

In my opinion private citizens should not own weapons of modern warfare. A simple handgun or rifle is one thing, a semi auto is quite another.

Tell me which branch of the military uses AR-15s?

You really dont want to involve yourself in this conversation, Nathan.

As a matter of fact, can you even tell me the main characteristic that separates an AR-15 from what the US Army considers an assault rifle?

the media that bring up Ak 47s, they need to realize that there are other guns besides an AK 47.

Its lame when they keep throwing AK 47s under the bus whenever a mass shooting happens and blown out of proportion.

Because 99% of people who want guns to go away have next to zero knowledge about them, they don't know even the slightest bit about what differentiates guns from one another. I'm not saying that in defense of guns either, it's just the truth.

I can understand not needed full auto for home defense... the average person has poor trigger discipline and would probably empty the entire magazine every time, which is very unsafe.

In anything, we need a safer/more reliable semi-loader system. Something that won't jam when shaken (ejection failure) or lose effectiveness when stored for multiple years (spring/load failure)

Springs do not work that way. Properly made springs can be stored under pressure (provided there max load is not exceeded) indefinitely.

I was just using that as an example. There are other factors such as dust, moisture, corrosion and just said spring as a catch all

Soldiers dont use semi auto

As a former soldier, you clearly have no idea what the fuck youre talking about.

As a former Marine I agree with the former soldier.
