22 y/o Tramp, Michelle Carter, the Massachusetts heifer who was convicted of telling her bf to KILL HIMSELF through TEXT is GETTING OUT EARLY despite a parole hearing days earlier that DENIED her parole!!

She was serving a 15 month sentence since her 2017 conviction has had almost 2 months shaved off her incarceration due to having earned "good time"

Her original release will now be on March 13 when it was originally May 5

In Massachusetts, inmates are said to be ableto earn 10 days monthly of "good time", a reduction in their sentence for good behaviour and by working at the jail and attending educational programs.

This came the same day when she arrived at a parole hearing in SHACKLES asking for a early parole from her 15 month prison sentence

But the board said they were "troubled" but her actions after she not only encouraged her boyfriend, Conrad Roy to takehis life but preventing others from stopping him

They said her actions needs to further address the factors to her offsne

She was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the 2014 death and she began her sentence back in February. A judge foun dher responsible for his death after she urged him to continue with his suicide plan

She's been described as a "model inmate" and her lawyers slammed the board's ruling arguing it was incorrect and dangerous

Her defense team is also appealing to the US Supreme Court that has yet to decide if it will hear her case

Do you support inmates getting of prison early for "good behaviour"?

I think if someone knows of someone elses threat to commit suicide they should report it. I especially began to think that after seeing this case.

With that said, it seemed that she was tired of hearing him constantly talk about it. Like, she didnt believe he was actually going to do it.

Even though hes dead, I cant blame her if she hates him.

I know depression is hard, guys. But know that there is Hope, and choosing the easy way out will cause a lot of pain and BS for those who survive you.

Sounds fair. I don't necessarily believe she's learned her lesson and become a better person for her time in jail, since anyone psychopathic enough to encourage somebody to commit suicide is going to have no qualms about putting on a friendly facade to manipulate a good behaviour system to their benefit, but it sounds like the system in question is being applied as intended, and I don't think it'd be a good idea to abolish said system just because she may or may not have abused it.

Literally anyone in the state can earn good time. This isn't some shocking thing. The guy who sells coke and stabbed his neighbor can. Rapists can. Technically murders can, though depending in the sentence it might not actually do anything.

All I am confident in is that if they ever make a movie about this... Michelle should be played by Cara Delevingne.

So she got a slap on the wrist then time off? idk, if she got 2 months off a 15 month sentence, it's not a huge thing. Granted, that sentence should have been closer to 3 or 4 years in the first place. I know I should be happy that she got any time at all, though.

Pretty much this.

Her life will be pretty trashy anyways. Her name/face is out there for this horrible act, and she's now a convicted felon so living a normal life will pretty much be impossible.

Doesn't mean she is absolved for what she did.

Plenty of convicted felons go on to live normal lives. ...and if she followed the rules of prison and did her time, then her debt to society has been paid.

Interesting as I thought the norm was 15 days or basically half of the original sentence.

In general I thought it was pretty common to expect to do 1/2 the time you are originally given, as long as you keep your nose clean (do not even believe you need to do work etc inside, but just not...like stab anyone etc).

Ahh, I looked it up, and it's state by state, in some states it can even be as little as 1/3rd of the original sentence served. I have just lived in states where that was at least 50%.

Go figure.

Your point?

Involuntary manslaughter - unintentional killing that results from criminal negligence or recklessness, or from committing an offense such as a DUI.

I don't think what she did was a crime. As in I don't think it qualifies as criminal negligence or reckless. Nor is sending a text an offense.

She did something that had a high chance of resulting in somebody's death, a consequence which she could have reasonably predicted. Attributing to her some responsibility for that death is therefore reasonable.

Depends entirely what's in the text. "I am going to kill you" is a death threat. "I will offer you $300 to sleep with me tonight" is solicitation. "My company's about to lay off 400 people and you should sell some of their stock now" is insider trading. The mere act of texting isn't an offence, no, but you can absolutely use texts to communicate messages that constitute offences.

As a CO now I approve of it. Gives them some motivation to behave while in prison. Naturally a lot of people do act up in prison but some do try to just keep their head down do the time and get out.
