The shutdowns started in Northern California and Marin County shortly after midnight, and were expected to begin in the rest of the Bay Area around noon on Wednesday. In all, nearly 800,000 PG&E customers may be affected by the outage, which could last for days in some cases. In the Bay Area, portions of San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Solano, Sonoma and Napa counties are affected. The approximate boundaries of the potential outage are shown on the map above. Besides the Bay Area, the notice covers portions of the counties of Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Mariposa, Mendocino, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, San Joaquin, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Stanislaus, Tehama, Trinity, Tuolumne, Yolo and Yuba. PG&E says the map information should be considered a general guideline. For the latest updates or to check whether a specific address is expected to be affected, go to PG&Es website. I charged my electronics last night and then unplugged everything. I did some laundry and also got some ice for keeping food cold.
