Grant

I'm sure. I just never got past the pendulum Medusa head bit with Sypha's best weapon. It was so much easier to cheese that bit with Grant or Alucard.

Interesting. I played the Famicom version (better music FTW) and apparently they added bats to the pendulum room right before Dracula in the American version.

I think Sypha is the best overall. Can use freezebeam to cheese platforms, crushes bosses, and has partner for anything else.

Grant lets you skip rooms as well. Like in the second to last level there's a room with two floors of flowing water on the ground that slows you down + falcons to deal with. And I don't think there are any special items or turkey in there either.
