I've done some googling around, and I couldn't find anything indicating that there were significant differences in brands/models until you started getting into higher specs or more features (why does a dash cam need wifi btw?), and that it was pretty much a "get what you pay for" sort of thing - more expensive = higher quality and more features.
Is that assessment accurate? Does anybody have any experience/advice they'd be willing to share, anything I should look out for or avoid, etc on top of the basics I can find via google? ... Copied to Clipboard!

I know nothing about dash cams, but Wirecutter has an article in case you haven't stumbled across it: https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-dash-cam/

I was hoping I could get some generic insight into what I wanted and then go looking for models that fit that, rather than going straight into reading reviews and looking at specifics. But this did look like a decent starting point for when I want to start going that direction. Also looks like it may not actually be nearly as complex of a topic as I'm making it out to be (Especially if I'm willing to pay a bit for a competent installation instead of doing it myself), but that's a good thing <_< ...
