Neither of their plans work in the real world where you actually have to pay for this stuff. Warren wants to fund a five trillion dollar socialist healthcare plan by taxing billionaires "two cents." The only problem is that all the billionaires combined don't have enough money to fund her plan for even nine months. Yang wants to give everyone a thousand bucks a month. He also wants to raise everyone's taxes. So what the hell good is a thousand bucks if my cost of living goes up a thousand bucks?

Trump has it right. Focus on job creation and lowering taxes, people have more money in their pockets and can take care of themselves.

Warren is polling well because she seems very smart and she's a woman. She's not as obviously corrupt as Kamala Harris, not as angry as Bernie, not senile like Biden. She's the perfect candidate for people who think they are smart but really aren't.

As a former Alaskan resident, what exactly is wrong with Yang's plan? Why do awful countries in the Middle East have UBI but the supposedly greatest country in the world cant give 12k a year to citizens? Trump raised the deficit to give billionaires a massive tax break. Could have used that to give UBI to the extremely poor.

For the record, I make enough money where 12k a year will be cool but not life changing or noticeable (yeah yeah, #humblebrag). Im not a fan of Yang just for UBI. The fact is he is the only candidate who understands the tech revolution that is coming and is trying to figure out ways to soften its impact while giving us power by making data your private property.

If hypothetically Yang became president and had to reneg on his UBI promise, Id still support him if he only gave UBI to the bottom 10% of this country. Imagine living on less that 20k a year. 12k will change your life.

But taxes on the wealthy form a substantial portion. Doubling the billionaire wealth tax will raise $1 trillion over 10 years, the economists found. They note in their analysis that the calculation assumes a 15% rate of tax avoidance.
Warrens plan also calls for other taxes likely to affect the wealthiest Americans. A proposal to tax capital gains like income for households in the top 1% would raise $2 trillion over 10 years, the economists wrote. And, they wrote, two new taxes on financial firms, a transactions tax and a systemic risk fee, will generate $900 billion.

Earlier Warren was running with similar ideas as Bernie but had actual plans to get that shit done. Unfortunately, once we found out the details of those plans they kind of fell apart.

Stealing employer contributions couldn't possibly be implemented because not all employers even make them in the first place, and there's no mechanism currently in place to do that. She can't tax the increased pay people will receive, because first of all she promised not to, and second of all, there's no guarantee people will GET increased pay. That's ENRON accounting. Increasing the tax on capital gains will harm investing, which will result in a net reduction of revenue. Same with taxing financial transactions.

So none of those will accomplish anything. That leaves the wealth tax. The two massive problems there are that the people she wants to tax don't have the money to fund her pipe dream, and the simple fact that... wealth taxes don't work. Europe learned that one the hard way, people with money simply left.
