That happened to me once. It got so bad I could hardly hear out of my one ear. I went to a otolaryngologist and he used some tool to pull the earwax out. He was damn good at it too. He couldn't believe that my primary doctor completely missed that my ears were full of wax.

Maybe my ears have large canals? But even as a teenager I didn't find it hard to get the qtip deep in my ear without really touching the sides. It's not tight.

You have too big Q-tips, or too narrow ear canal.
