Should politicians have immunity from prosecution?

This would not affect impeachment/expulsion from Congress. Just talking about immunity from regular criminal prosecution.

No
In Israel, our Prime Minister Bibi/Benjamin Netanyahu currently has 3 charges against him for bribery, fraud, corruption etc and he is asking for immunity
If he is really guilty, why should immunity save him? I hope he won't get what he wants

But I think there should also be more layers of protections from false charges for high-ranked policians, not immunity, but something that would stop mass false charges

in my cynical view, the main purpose of our justice system is to dissuade vigilantes.

if anyone is immune to our justice system, vigilantes will be the opposite of dissuaded.

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

Politicians should be punished more severely for crimes committed while in office.

So if Joe Schmoe gets 5 years in prison for a crime
If Joe Schmoe were an elected official, he'd get 10 years for the same crime if committed while he was in office.
