Yesterday morning: Sure we had snow, but it wasn't a huge amount.

Right now: almost 50 cm on the ground(1 1/2 feet). Set to have another 30 or so by end of day.

To put this in perspective, my car wasn't buried prior to the storm. Now its nearly completely buried.

I'm just glad I still have power. We have a lot of snow and apparently the winds are 100 km winds, which is down from what they expected in 150 km winds.

I also live in california where it still gets kinda hot in the middle of the winter. Seriously walked around all day doing errands in a t-shirt and shorts today. Summers suck ass though. I hate summer.

True..And ya damn, you must get hard up there with everything.
About how long are your summer?

And damn @ that picture.
I feel like Canada would be a decent place to live, but also those winters are a killer.

That's just a typical Newfoundland winter that's all. Where we are surrounded by water our winters are more wet than say Calgary, which gets far far colder but has a fraction of the snow. Our winters usually start at the start of December and go until late April, early May. For reference, this year was a little weird where we only started getting proper snow around December... 15th I want to say?

If I were a snowboarder this would be prime time to go snowboarding.

Ya, that is more or less what we get.
This really counters my argument for not wanting to live in Canada...if anything we get like maybe 3 weeks more 'summer' I'm in upstate New York. But ya I was looking at that area, just a bit ago. I like to geek out on that stuff. And same about Skiing/Snowboarding, it's not my things, but my friends that are in full glory right now.

I often hear the weather for the Nunavut Territory, and I can say is, whatever we get, it could be worse.

I want to slap those people lol. As if wrapping yourself in an infinite amount of clothing is realistic by any stretch.

Way I look at it, 15 minutes of improper dress in summertime results in you being uncomfortable and getting sweaty.
20 minutes of improper dress in winter can result in physical pain and getting fucking frostbite.

I mean... it's a bit of a different situation where I live compared to say.... the Yukon. I always go back to the same Dave Ramsey story. A womans husband just finished his degree in some type of surgery. He could make 350k in New York, which is comfortable living. Or he could go to the Yukon and make 850k a year but be stuck there for a minimum of 3 years.

Unlike that story, the money to be made where I live is absolute garbage. Every smart person from this province moves elsewhere to make their money, which is what I'm in the process of doing. Just as soon as I finish my computer repair degree, I'm getting the hell off this island even for somewhere in Ontario or Nova Scotia. Unless you work for the government your screwed. Even the most basic of reception jobs require a 3 year administrative degree..... to answer a phone and book appointments, not to mention the pay is horrible. If I were to stay here with my degree I'd make at most 14 dollars an hour coming out of college. But if I go elsewhere I could make 20+ an hour.

That's what I am doing now. There is no snow yet, but it's -13C and dropping with snow on the way.
Still shitty though. I prefer snow over the bitter cold, for the most part.
And I actually like driving in the snow!

Ya, I would get out just for the weather to start. Beautiful area though. Is there an Oyster industry? Or is it too cold, I have a friend was going on about PEI Oysters recently.

But ya, computer repair is a good idea, you'll always have work. You'll be fine once you spread your wings.

And is extremely dangerous as I understand it. BTW: I wasn't asking for you, just curious.
I would think it is to cold there, but that cold water that come down from there is part of the selling point of the PEI Oysters.

quit crying and pick up a broom human behavior is a funny thing my loser neighbor had nothing better to do today so he put his snow suit and booties on, and used his snow blower to plow both sides of the whole street and everyone's driveway for free because he got enjoyment out of it and just had to stand there and push the thing but if he had to pick up a shovel and actually work you think he would have done all that no he would have only done his and nobody elses because actual work was involved like when a pedestrian steps into the crosswalk everyone close by in there car immediately stops and the pedestrian yells "I'M A PEDESTRIAN!" as that somehow makes them special just because the person is in there climate controlled vehicle and the pedestrian is the one doing the actual work by walking this is why society doesn't care about homeless people and puts spikes on places where they seek shelter and sit so they cant sit there because if your not doing work then you have no value to society its why when you read an article about someone they always make sure to mention there occupation even though it has nothing to do about the topic, also just read an article about how the pizza delivery man had a busy day because it snowed and nobody wanted to go out well he was saying how "someone cut me off and i ended up in a snow pile and called the customer and she dug me out" lol hes litterally a failure at life thats why hes delivering pizzas nobody asked or cared whose fault the accident was as if it not being his fault somehow changes his status as a failure at life, thank you.

Jesus Christ! & those pics.

A bad snow here is like 1", like even if ever.

Anyway I hate winter in general.

Trees are bare, grass is brown, the sky is gray, people walking around slow looking at the ground.

Also having to switch out from heavy to light clothes regularly.

High 20's low 30s in the morning to high 40s to low 50s by afternoon.

I'm actually curious to know how insulated your home is.
Mine is a glorified barn, really. Built in the 1870's.
The insulation sucks, or is full-on none existant.

Right now, it is, -8C and feels like a reprieve from the last few days.

Somewhat brand new house. Built about 15 years ago. I'm in a semi-detached home, and the walls are super thick. I'll be honest here, my neighbour has 2 kids and I literally can't hear them unless they are outside in the back yard. Which is a godsend compared to the last apartment I was in, where you could hear them even when they were sleeping.

It's so quiet here I can do my washing really late at night and they won't complain. As for the insulation itself, I can lose power and the temperature won't drop for a good few hours. Long as I set the heat up during this time, it won't go down during a power outage. And even if that happens, if I can make my way down the street I can head to my parents house, where they have a gas fireplace.
