we saw e6s enrage with 2% left last night so when our newbie party members get better gear (and uhh learn their rotations) we're definitely gonna clear

progressing slower than last tier but it's probably fine, our OT is in like 450 gear

I'm in a similar situation to you with my static. We got to e6s enrage this week but I was able to find a pug group to get my own clear last night. Only think I'm worried about for now is the dps check on e7s adds and the final fight because we also have lots of newbies.

we outfitted our other new guys in mostly crafted gear but this guy only kinda showed up at raid time and noone really looked at his gear, but him being like 30k hp less than our main tank should probably have tipped us off

our whm never raided with whm before but he's a raiding veteran, our nin started raiding late o12s but only started nin wednesday, our dnc is absolutely utterly new (he hit 80 on sam the day we started raiding, and switched to dnc this wednesday), and our gnb is new to raiding... so we have room to improve

they're all good at the game though for how new they are. raided in wow with most of them (until bfa went to shit). the gnb was a better disc priest than I was....

the other half of the raid group still only started around o12s, but we've been playing the same classes since. I raided on smn in ARR/early HW but I hadn't seriously sch'd before late SB. now it's basically all I play

Having just leveled a crafter to 73: it's not, but the ARR section is horrific ass. People will tell you to level all crafters simultaneously and they're wrong. You want to mainline one crafter to grind collectibles gear with so that all the other crafters can benefit from a clear gear progression. The grind starts 'making sense' if you do this.

Kan is completely spot on for Crafters. Level up everything equally is a holdover from ARR where you had to crossclass skill everything, and use everything to make subcomponents for everything else

Having one at 80 now let's you laugh as you grind others through weekly deliveries or beast tribes or whatever the cool kids do these days

People who still say level every crafter evenly in this day and age are so caught up with being self-sufficient, they aren't paying attention to opportunity cost. You can make plenty money with one 80 if you pay attention to the market and are a little patient, which will save time when you grind up the other classes.

The main benefit to levelling crafters evenly is saving armory space... which is actually kind of a big deal for me. >_>

If the new part of Ishgardian restoration is to gathering what the first part was to crafting, it'll probably spur me on to level Miner to 80 so I'll have them all maxed. Add in ocean fishing to that and you can tell there's been a concerted effort in ShB to get people up to speed on DoH/L jobs. It's not just something only the crafting fanatics bother with now, but the everyman as well.

they decided to let ffxi just quietly fade away a few years ago, but if anything the playerbase has increased since Rhapsodies concluded. it's settled into a nice endgame and they've focused on job balance and QoL for years now, and the game's better than ever despite being "dead"

there's still tons to work with (the only part of the Far East we saw was Reisenjima, and I think there was a gigantic continent the beastmen came from that's been completely untouched), so I'm pretty happy to hear that they're gonna be doing something substantial with it

That was what motivated me to recently level fishing/mining up to the same point as botany! I have all three to 60ish now.

5 members of my static decided to grind it out all day Saturday and Sunday and cleared E8S without the other 3 of us. Honestly I've almost entirely lost interest in clearing at all at this point; instead of a group experience, it feels like I'm getting carried and/or a dead weight because I didn't want to raid way more than I signed up for. Feels bad

Did one session of Eureka. Challenge log beated and got to 11. Also got my first weapon upgrade thanks to a single FATE giving like 100 crystals. I'm assuming the grind gets a lot worse? Are FATEs just the way to go to get your glowy weapons?

fwiw, I've barely started E8S but this fight seems wild. I feel the fight itself is compelling enough to be worth doing imo.

There's many glowy weapons in the game so you'll have to be more specific. Do you mean the Heavensward anima weapon? There's a bunch of different steps to that one, and FATEs are just the first. The relic weapons (which that one is) are really grindy and only worth doing for the aesthetic.

didn't feel like e6s was all that bad... it didnt have any killer cool mechanics like e2s cycles or e3s black smokers to finish out the fight with (does the fire tornado mechanic just exist to bore tanks), but it felt nice when everything came together

but the first 2 minutes of e7s is a fucking snoozefest on healer

If you want to make bank with Diadem gathering, the things you want to focus on are as follows based on my experience so far:

-Basalt
-Cotton bolls (not artisanal)
-Walnut logs

These are heavily used by most people grinding scrips that arent madmen shooting for Saint of the Firmament.

E6s rocks because it is the ultimate tutorial on uptime strats. The difference between the fight on first try and the fight once you optimize it is magical. I can think of like four different strategies I've implemented over time as tank and they've boosted my party's damage by what has to be like 2k dps. Sweet fight imo, Ramuh is the one that sucks.

Tank lb is very easy but not worth it. Invulns make it trivial for healers so they can hard dps tho

We've been invulning but it's still like 10-15s of tanks not being in melee range.

As healer I was absolutely overestimating how much healing I'd have to do in that segment for quite a long time though. Excog on the GNB and benediction on the DRK is literally all that's needed. I figured the GNB would take more than two hits, but nope.

Clearly the answer is to bring double PLD so they can align their Requiescat windows with it :^)

I've cleared e6s but my static is still working on it. It's a little frustrating to be stuck when I want to go into 7s, but I dunno. I like 6 as a fight, I think they nailed the pacing. It's fast-paced but aside from conflagration and the final gauntlet deaths aren't punishing to the group (besides dps) so it feels like you can still learn the fight and adapt. We have a lot of optimization to do though.
