Congrats to Shadow on the engagement! Or condolences, as Zeus puts it.

My Wednesday night D&D group has moved to Roll 20, and the results have been ... difficult. My laptop can barely run it, everybody has microphone issues, etc. Going to keep trying until the lockdown lifts, but I do not enjoy playing D&D this way. I mean, going from what PO says above, I'm a writer, and I used to do a lot of text-based online RP (in IRC, if anybody remembers that), but nothing can replace the in-person tabletop experience for me.

Hey man, try Zoom seriously. We tried a few other methods including discord etc, and zoom is by far the best. It's like being in a room with everyone. You can split the screen on your computer as well and have discord below for rolling your dice (have to load a dice rolling bot) or messages between the dm and players etc.

It actually is almost better than playing in person because everyone is ccmfy at their home, you can make tea etc, and be in your most comfortable chair. Really enjoying playing over zoom, may not ever go back to in person play after this.

Oooor, and go with me here, you judge (and enjoy) the movies by themselves and understand that no singular man can create a movie.

Like him or not, Lucas was the man before the original concept and had plotted the original story. Sure, all creative endeavors (or most, anyway) are collaborative efforts, but ANH set the table a certain way and ESB went in a different direction in that regard.

I watched the Joe Exotic: Tiger King documentary on Netflix, and boy is that just some white trash, meth induced, craziness. Sadly, I enjoued every minute of the ride. I'm a cat person, my cat is sleeping on my leg as I post this, so the thought of giant cats just being kept as pets eating expired Walmart meat is just fascinating.

If you have 7 hours to waste, and you do during the mini apocalypse, then you mohhy find this interesting.

Finishing NieR; Automata, Tales of Vesperia, Dragon Quest XI, and Octopath. Completing more novels to publish, and a few stories not meant for such publication. Reading some more of the books in my backlog.

That's not counting how I work in a grocery store, either.

I'm really lucky. NBC has paid me for all 3 weeks I haven't worked, but that ends after tomorrow.

I'm not essentially, since all I do is make expensive, grown-up make-believe. The irony of course being that the arts and entertainment are the only thing keeping people sane right now. But there's enough media to last a person many lifetimes, and it's impossible to do film/TV without being in close proximity to other humans.

I finished Breath of Fire 2 on dialysis this morning. It was a lot sadder than I remembered from when I finished the game as a kid.

Either way I need to find my Playstation Vita so I can download and start Breath of Fire 3 and 4. I remember them a little better as I was a young adult when i played those games back in the late 90's and early 2000's.

If I can't find my Vita, it's in a box somewhere in my house, then I will either download Grandia HD Collection or Final Fantasy IX. Fun fact, I started FF9, but never finished. The game didn't speak to me when I played it back in the day maybe that will change this time around. Who knows!

My best friend's currently in the hospital. He started showing symptoms shortly before being told that someone else he works with had tested positive.

So that sucks. Fortunately he's extremely likely to make a full recovery with no problems because of his age/health/etc, but this is now the first case where someone I actually know in real life caught it, as opposed to just random strangers.

Not entirely surprising, considering how intense it is in central NJ (more than anywhere outside of NYC itself - and the NYC region as a whole accounts for like half the infections in the US at the moment).

Finally saw the Stargirl trailer... which I guess dropped in December? I saw a notice about the casting, clicked to see the lead actress (who I'm not particularly liking, since she's a little wide to play Courtney, among other issues) and then tried to google some other images.

Granted, I either forgot or missed the fact that it's a CW show (which is where most of them wind up) so I guess my expectations should have been low.

So far I've been fortunate enough not to know anybody who has been afflicted, although one of my brother's distant co-workers (physically distant -- works in a different building in the same corporate compound) got it.

Probably not as big as you, but still plenty big.

At any rate, really wish I had gone into Onward fresh, since a few of those things I probably would have enjoyed more. While it certainly wasn't one of Pixar's best, it was touching at times, crafted a neat world (even if it kept hitting us over the head with the whole reason people stopped using magic -- including having to hear parts of the opening narration again at points), and had a really cool action sequence towards the end.

Welp, as of 7pm, I've been officially furloughed until ???

Honestly, I'm more relieved than worried at this point. My area has over 500 cases just in my town and the next one over. With the furloughed benefits and the stimulus check and fuck all to spend money on except food, I think I might actually come out ahead over continuing working at this point.

Now if only the rg350 I ordered almost 2 months ago would actually show up while I have nothing but time to enjoy it...

I have just been catching up on my backlog of television and movies thus far. I know I'm going to lose a lot of time starting next Friday with Final Fantasy VII Remake. (The boss lady actually gave me permission to purchase the game.)

I'm sorry about your best friend P.O. and I hope he does recover from Covid 19. I have a friend who is recovering, and she has her good days and bad days since contracting the virus. It's really scary stuff when she talks about not being able to breathe at night.

The funny thing about the Safety Van is that I corrected the word before I hit post, and it still kept it as Van instead of Can.

However, A Safety Van is needed in these dark times. May the Safety Van be a 1983 GMC van.

I thought that Final Fantasy IX was on sale for 9 dollars, but instead it was 20 dollars, and thus it can wait. I'm going to play River City Ransom at dialysis until I get a little more money, as I can play that one for free.

Observation: Disney+ doesn't have Spider-Man Homecoming. After I noticed its absence, I remembered that it was likely because Sony owns the larger half of it.

Observation 2: Disney+'s search is so bad that "Thor 2" returns no results containing "Thor," instead giving a list of non-Thor movies.

Truly feel for you, and hope he makes a full recovery. To be in the hospital is interesting, though-I didn't think they were sending people to the hospital for it, unless you were at risk/had really bad symptoms.

Case in point, one of my best friends is 99% he got it, and is just now over it. He was tested last week, but he won't have the results until tomorrow at earliest, and he's already out of the woods. But he was told not to go to a hospital. I know someone else that feels fairly certain they have it, in another state, and they were also told not to go.

On the plus side, having allergies supposedly builds the strength of your immune system, so you're more likely to resist actual virus symptoms. Unless it's something that involves a cytokine storm, in which case, you're kind of fucked.

Though if you've got bad allergies/sinuses, that's just more proof that I'm secretly your real dad. I've had bad sinus allergies since I was a child. Any time barometric pressure shifts significantly I tend to get bad headaches, and I've got low-grade hayfever sort of reactions to things like mowed grass and honeysuckle.

Nah. The irony of me is, I was basically self-isolating two weeks before everyone else anyway. Like I mentioned a while back I had minor surgery, so I didn't really want to leave the house while I was recovering, so I spent most of the month of March laying low (only really went out in public twice - to get my stitches removed, and to go shopping once).

I have almost no fear of getting infected right now. To be honest, I'm not overly concerned that it would be a major problem even if I do. My main worry is that I'm basically the sole support network for my 73-year old mother, so if I do get sick I might wind up infecting her, and she's got a much higher chance of having a problem with it than I would.

Probably depends on where you are, what your symptoms are, and what the current situation is like in terms of stress on the system.

We actually have a lot of different hospitals local to where I live, and he mentioned that the hospital he went to wasn't all that much more crowded than any given hospital usually is, so they're not necessarily overwhelmed with cases (which probably makes them more inclined to take patients even if they're not desperate), in spite of us being in an infection hot zone. But I could see if the number of cases get a lot worse, and hospitals start getting flooded, they might start restricting who they're willing to take in and who they have to turn away. So he might actually have lucked out by getting it now and not, say, in a few weeks/months when things might be worse.

Also, in his case, he had occasional trouble breathing (and his blood oxygen levels were low when they tested him), but he's not at full "needs to be on a ventilator" level, so I mostly assume they're just keeping him under observation and generally giving him antivirals and the like. So they might just have decided he's severe enough to keep even if he wasn't full-on ICU-worthy.

I also know some places are refusing to test/treat unless you have evidence that you were directly exposed to the virus by someone else who had it, or were in a high risk area before you started showing symptoms, or you have a compromised immune system to begin with, so that could result in people getting turned away, though in his case he knows how he got exposed (someone he works with tested positive) so he fits that criteria.

He's definitely not at death's door or anything - he just watched WrestleMania on his phone yesterday and texted me to mention how ridiculous it was. And he doesn't seem to be getting worse, so I assume he's about as bad as he's going to get, so that's good.

tbh, that Taker match sounded like something that'd fit better on TNA (or, at least, WCW). I'm happy about Roman's last minute replacement, although I'm confused by the outcome, unless Goldberg's contract is just up or something. It's generally standard operating procedure in wrestling that, in cases where someone has to be subbed into a match, the substitute will usually go over. A fair number of people predicted Braun winning because of that, even if it makes absolutely no sense by most narrative/booking standards.

Combined with the fact that they're not going to want to keep paying Goldberg astronomical money to keep making appearances in the current environment, and it probably made sense to switch the belt to Braun. Even if it did contribute to the generally clusterfucky nature of the show. Nearly every major decision they made over both shows feels "wrong" in terms of storytelling.

Well, except for Otis. But that's the one a lot of people didn't expect was going to happen, because Vince hates fat people and doesn't feel like they deserve to get attractive women to like them.

And Bray. But I'm still not sure that match actually happened, and wasn't just the result of a wild acid trip I went on after someone spiked something I ate or drank..

It feels like a case of too little, too late to me. They should have pulled the trigger on him a few years ago when fans were actually red hot for him, and his body was still in shape to be a top-tier performer. But his size is a drawback, because it means he's going to break down to injuries sooner, and it's already started happening a bit with him.

Plus, with him putting his foot and most of the rest of his leg squarely in his mouth a short time ago, he might actually have the least fan support he's ever had right now... which might make this the worst possible time to give him a run with the top title. Unless they're planning to lean into it the way they did with Seth "I can't stop being an asshole on Twitter" Rollins, have him deliberately play up the assholery, and turn the fans against him to power up as a heel, so when we eventually get back to something resembling normal, they'll just have Roman beat him for the title, so Roman can have his 47th coronation (because Vince is convinced that, if he keeps doing it, eventually one of these times it's actually going to work).

Shame that they won't just go the lazy route and flip Roman into a heel, since he's a very hateable guy. Then if he eventually manages to pull off a cool heel persona, then they can flip him face (a la Rock, who also failed to originally get over as a face).

Well, with the modern-day plague currently besetting us, Vince very well could see us all dead. And speaking of death, I finally personally know somebody who died from the C-Virus. Apparently a distant relation who recently passed had lost the fight against the Kung Flu. Given that they were elderly and infirm, I figured it wasn't a guarantee that it was from that, although it was the first thing to cross my mind since they were in a nursing home.

And after watching Thor 2, I decided to rewatch the beginning and end of Thor 3... but wound up watching the whole thing instead, making it the first MCU film I've seen twice. Everything that irked me the first time around -- such as Valkyrie's shitty pratfalls designed for comedic effect (particularly her introduction), all the build-up around her, and the goofy group fight sequences -- still annoyed me, if not more so. I'm not putting any of the fault on the actress, it was just the fucking shitty writers and/or directors.

Pacing-wise, it didn't move as briskly as I remembered. After Hela appears, things felt like they slow down for a bit and Sakar kinda drags on. And I'd forgotten how funny Korg was.

Of course, after watching Thor 3, I want to jump right to IW since that's where things kinda pick up again, but I really should watch the GoG films first.

Oh 2 day Wrestlemania.

I talked **** about how WWE doesn't do anything wild, and then I took that acid trip of a match with the rest of you on Sunday in that firefly fun house match. Was there a winner or a loser? Does it really matter? Crazy Eric Bishoff flashbacks and NWO nonsense with a cursing Vince puppet. Meta as hell, but great.

I stopped cooking to watch that mess last night and it was awesome. Combine that with Jerich cutting a promo against Vanguard 1, a damn drone, and wrestling was fun this week.

Sony revelawd the Playstation 5 controller today. It looks interesting, and with all the changes the one that looks the best to me is the two tone color scheme with the white outline and rhe black middle. It looks really cool, and as they add more color schemes the choices are going to be endless. (I want a black and electric purple one)

I was underwhelmed by GoG1, especially after all the hype. Chris Pratt was fantastic as always, it was weird seeing John C. Reilly in that tiny ass role, a few of the sets were neat, I loved Ronan, and... oh shit, just realized I didn't see the after-credits scene with Howard the Duck. Fuck!

idk, the cast was alright, the effects were alright, almost all of the fight scenes were pure shit, the final confrontation was underwhelming, and I remember a recurring gag or two that wasn't funny the first time, let alone multiple occasions. Otherwise a lot of the dialogue was fun.

After I watch GoG2 tonight, I'll just have Captain Marvel left (since I'm not going to try to track down Homecoming) and then I'll finally watch IW & EG over the weekend.
